Museum of Repertoire Americana Oct. 20-21
The Theatre Museum of Repertoire Americana, Jimmie Davis Stage, will soon present “Jittering Spooks.”
This play is full of Ghost and Spooks that will keep you on the edge of your seats, featuring wonderful detective from Hogscratch, Missouri, who is sure to solve all the spook problems. It is full of actions and laughs and wonders, and it’s a fun-filled show that all ages will enjoy.
Geode Challenge Races 5K, 12K and 25K Oct. 21
Friends of Geode and Danville Lions welcome all runners, families, and visitors to enjoy the Geode Challenge Races, Oct. 21. Geode Races begin at 9 a.m. at the Beach Shelter in Geode State Park. There will be a 5K, 12K, or 25k run and walk!
Registration is $35/5K, $40/12K, $45/25K. Preregistration includes a T-shirt!
Proceeds go toward the Concession Renovation Project at the beach. This event is dog friendly! Sign up at: www.friendsofgeode.org/events
On-site registration is available as well. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.
Lincoln-Harlan House Saturday, Oct. 21
Harlan-Lincoln House Open House from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments, tours, and celebration!
Welcome this important piece of Henry County and American history. Under the management of a new nonprofit organization, the Harlan-Lincoln will have regular visiting hours beginning Wednesday, Oct. 25. The house will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. until the end of November. Tours by appointment may be scheduled in the winter months by calling Lynn Ellsworth at 319 931 3984. Regular hours will resume in February.
Red Ribbon Week begins Oct. 23
“BE KIND TO YOUR MIND, LIVE DRUG FREE!” is the theme for RED RIBBON WEEK 2023 which kicks off today! Area schools will be holding various theme days and will receive information on living drug-free and being KIND TO YOUR MIND.
Henry County Heritage Trust presents Chautauqua program Oct. 28
Henry County Heritage Trust Presents “Chautauqua: Bringing Culture to Mount Pleasant” by Grace Swank-Davis (VP of the Theatre Museum) at 2 p.m. at the Henry County Heritage Center Museum, 403 West Madison St. in Mt. Pleasant.

New London Specialty Care Trunk or Treat Oct. 28
New London Specialty Care begins the Halloween season with a FANG-tastic Trunk or Treat event! Visit the Center from 12:30—2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28. The residents look forward to seeing all the community families dressed for this fun holiday.
