Oct. 6-10: Oakland Mills Park presents Lighted Trails
7-9 p.m. Take a guided walk along lighted trails at Oakland Mills Park. Come hike our trails at night! Trails will be lit from dusk to dawn all week. Extra activities Friday night
Oct. 10: Broomsticks and Brews
5-8 p.m. Mainstreet Mount Pleasant invites everyone to join in the adult style Halloween fun with music and themed drinks in Central Park.
Oct. 10: Villages of Van Buren Scenic Drive Festival
9 a.m.-5 p.m. Crafts, vendors, art shows, music, garage sales, kids entertainment, parades, car & motorcycle shows are ready to go. Enjoy the beautiful fall colors as you begin the drive to Keosauqua.
Oct. 11: Trick or Treat at New London Country Club
5 p.m. New London Community Kids are invited. Games, crafts and food will be available. Trick or Treat will begin at 7 p.m. Walk through the campground. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Oct. 11: Henry County Conservation Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat during Halloween at the Campgroup. Bring your little Ghouls. There will also be a Decorating Contest at the Top of Hill Campground, Waterworks South Shore. Judging will be done after dark. Prizes for decorating: First – 3-night camping stay, Second – HCCCD Tumbler, Third – HCCD Stickers
Oct. 11-12: Sac & Fox ROCKTOBERFEST
9-5 Saturday, 9-4 Sunday The Sac & Fox Lapidary Club is holding its annual Gem, Mineral and Lapidary Show. Something for everyone. Come to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 2606 W. Burlington St, Fairfield, Iowa. Free Admission and Free Parking
Oct. 12: Dover Museum open Sundays
1-4 p.m. October is the last month of the summer visiting season. Come to Dover Museum and spend an afternoon or two learning about New London and its history. October On Sunday, Oct. 26 a program on Civil War quilts will be presented.
Oct. 18: Geode Challenge Race
9 a.m. 5K/12K/25K Dog Friendly trail run or walk at beautiful Geode State Park. Join other runners at the beach shelter house and prepare for a challenging course full of fun. This annual race is hosted by Friends of Geode and sponsored by Danville Lions Club. Don’t miss it. Entry fee $45 for 5K, $50 for 12K and $55 for 25K. Sign up at www.friendsofgeode.org/events/
Oct. 31: New London Trunk, Trick and Treat Schedule

5-7 p.m. Citywide Trick or Treat
5-7 p.m. City Park Trunk or Treat
5-7 p.m. V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Trunk or Treat
Nov. 4: City and School Board Elections
Keep an eye on the local elections. Plan to vote.
City of New London Council: Vote for three: Dan Berner, John Doyle, Scott Campbell, Brad Helmerson.
New London Community School District School Board: At Large, vote for two: Jessica Boyer, John Housman, Kyle Helmerson.
