Oct. 18: Geode Challenge Race
9 a.m. 5K/12K/25K Dog Friendly trail run or walk at beautiful Geode State Park. Join other runners at the beach shelter house and prepare for a challenging course full of fun. This annual race is hosted by Friends of Geode and sponsored by Danville Lions Club. Don’t miss it. Entry fee $45 for 5K, $50 for 12K and $55 for 25K. Sign up at www.friendsofgeode.org/events/
Oct. 18: Henry County Heritage Trust “Ghosts and Witches of Henry County”
2 p.m. Join Henry County Heritage Trust and the presentation of the Ghosts & Witches of Henry County. he program will be held at the Henry County Heritage Center Museum at 403 W. Madison Street in Mt. Pleasant. Hear about strange events at the Garretson Farm, in the Harlan-Lincoln House and at Mt. Pleasant’s Mental Health Institute. Learn about the Witch of Merrimac! The program is free and refreshments will be served!
Oct. 18: New London Specialty Care “Trunk or Treat”
2-3:30 p.m. Join the residents at New London Specialty Care as they dress up and welcome all youngsters to treat them. Visiting with members of the community makes everyone’s day a little more special.
Oct. 19: Dover Museum open Sundays
1-4 p.m. October is the last month of the summer visiting season. Come to Dover Museum and spend an afternoon or two learning about New London and its history.
Oct. 21: Henry County Public Health coming to New London
4-5:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. At the New London Community Center, Henry County Public Health will provide Flu Shots and COVID-19 Vaccinations. Take advantage of this opportunity to protect yourself and loved ones from these common infections.
Oct. 23: Harlan Lincoln House “Mary Todd Lincoln” portrayal
7 p.m. The Harlan-Lincoln House is hosting a presentation by Laura Keyes of Historic Voices at 7 p.m. in the Union Block Building, downtown Mt. Pleasant. Keyes will portray Mary Todd Lincoln as she prepares to accompany her husband to the theatre on that fateful April 14, 1865, evening. Donations are welcome.
Oct. 26: Dover Museum presents “Civil War Quilts”
1:30 p.m. The last Dover Sunday program will be a presentation on Civil War Quilts. These precious replicas tell the story of the hardships of this time in American history. Plan to attend.
Oct. 29: New London High School Blood Drive
7:30-11:30 a.m. Place this event on your calendar. Plan to sign up.
Oct. 31: New London Trunk, Trick and Treat Schedule
Time to plan for Halloween event. The City Council has published the following times and locations. Halloween trick-or-treating is: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2025
5 p.m. Until Gone: City Park New London Lions Hot Dogs
5-7 p.m. Citywide Trick or Treat
5-7 p.m. City Park Trunk or Treat
5-7 p.m. V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Trunk or Treat
Nov. 4: City and School Board Elections
Keep an eye on the local elections. Plan to vote.
City of New London Council: Vote for three: Dan Berner, John Doyle, Scott Campbell, Brad Helmerson.
New London Community School District School Board: At Large, vote for two: Jessica Boyer, John Housman, Kyle Helmerson.
Tiger Food Pantry Hours
Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m.
