Time to plan for Halloween event. The City Council has published the following times and locations. Halloween trick or treating is: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2025
5 p.m. Until Gone: City Park New London Lions Hot Dogs
5-7 p.m. Citywide Trick or Treat
5-7 p.m. City Park Trunk or Treat
5-7 p.m. V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Trunk or Treat
Oct. 31: Henry County Communities are Trick or Treating tonight!
5-7 p.m. Mt. Pleasant citywide Trick or Treat night Stock up on treats and leave your
porch light on!
5-7 p.m. The City of New London invites all to a citywide “Trunk or Treat”!”
5:30-7 p.m. Danville Trick or Treat night Turn the porch light on if you are participating!
5:30-7 p.m. Salem Trick or Treat

Nov. 1: American Battlefield Trust presents a Traveling Exhibit
10:30 a.m. The opening reception for the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Vets Hall 300 W. Monroe Street. The Traveling Exhibit will be available through November 12th. The exhibit is hosted by the James Harlan Chapter, NSDAR. It will be in Mount Pleasant Oct. 28 — Nov. 12
Nov. 1-2: Denmark presents Renaissance Faire
9 a.m.-5 p.m. Denmark, Iowa presents a Renaissance Faire Saturday and Sunday from Activities include camel rides and live sword fights, fire dancing, woodworking & storytelling, bagpipes & drums, and a costume contest: in fact, if you attend this event in FULL costume, you will receive $5 off your entry fee! Ages 11 & under are free, ages 12-17/$10, 18 plus/$15.
Nov. 2: daylight saving time ends
Be sure to “Fall Back.” Set your clocks one hour earlier before you go to bed Saturday night. Don’t forget that it will be darker longer in the morning as you prepare for your morning commutes.
Nov. 3: The Harlan-Lincoln House presents Grab ‘N Go Lunch
11:30 a.m.— 1 p.m. Visit the First United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant, to obtain this wonderful lunch. Lunch includes a choice of chili or Iowa corn chowder, crackers, celery/carrot sticks w/Ranch, baguette, cookie and water! Nov. 4: City and School Board Elections
Keep an eye on the local elections. Plan to vote.
City of New London Council: Vote for three: Dan Berner, John Doyle, Scott Campbell, Brad Helmerson.
New London Community School District School Board: At Large, vote for two: Jessica Boyer, John Housman, Kyle Helmerson.
Nov. 9: Veterans Day Brunch at New London’s VFW Post 7641
10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Auxiliary is hosting their annual Brunch to honor area Veterans. Enjoy biscuits & gravy, egg casseroles, grilled pork tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, coffee cakes, treats, fruit, and more! This meal is a free will donation with all proceeds going to the Blue Star Mother’s Organization for postage to ship Christmas Care packages to deployed Iowa military. A salute to Veterans Program presented by VFW Post 7641 and the Auxiliary will begin at noon. The post is located at 802 E. McKinley in New London.
Tiger Food Pantry Hours
Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m.
