Nov. 14-15: NL Performing Arts presents Game of Tiaras
7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 An aging king decides to split his kingdom between his three daughters. The play has been described as combining Game of Thrones, King Lear, and three fairy tale princesses in one hilarious story. Don’t miss this fast-paced fun play suitable for all ages. The Masqued Tigers have produced another hit.
Nov. 15: Oakland Mills Nature Center
10 a.m. The Oakland Mills Nature Center is proud to invite all to the Grand Opening of the StoryWalk at the Nature Center! Listen to and enjoy a story as you and your family stroll through the Oakland Mills Nature Center! Snacks and drinks will be available.
Nov. 16: Holiday Stroll Fundraiser
3-7 p.m. Soup Supper and Baked Potato Bar available at the New London Community Building. Soups and baked potatoes with all the trimmings. Eat in or carry out. The Holiday Stroll is just around the corner. Help support this New London tradition.
Nov. 20: New London Public Library presents “A Monster in Mount Pleasant”
6 p.m. The New London Public Library presents Judge C.J. Williams, author of “A Monster in Mount Pleasant” The presentation will be in the New London High School Auditorium. A Mt. Pleasant native, Judge Williams, will discuss his book and answer questions.
Nov. 21: Dover Historical Society Board Meeting
1:30 p.m. The monthly Board meeting will be held at Dover Museum. All members are invited. The holiday season has many activities happening at the museum. Come with your ideas and thoughts.
Nov. 22: Dover Bake Sale
8 a.m.-1 p.m. Stop by the Dover Museum on Saturday, Nov. 22 and purchase baked goods and treats to ease your holiday cooking tasks. It helps to have those little extras around for visiting family and guests.
Nov. 22: FFA Adventures on the Farm
Noon-4 p.m. Please come join the FFA students for a fun filled adventure on the farm. Open to Clark Elementary Students K-5 on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the New London Middle School gym. The NL FFA Chapter will be hosting a Bake Sale during the event.
Nov. 22: VFW Catfish & Chicken Dinner
5-7 p.m. New London VFW Post 7641 features their Catfish & Chicken Dinner from 5 p.m. — 7 p.m.! A catfish dinner is $13, and a chicken dinner is $9. Your dinner includes a roll and choice of 2 sides: French fries, baked beans, & coleslaw!
Nov. 23: Danville Community Thanksgiving
6:30 p.m. Danville area churches invite everyone to the annual Danville Community Thanksgiving service Sunday, Nov. 23 at host church Danville Methodist, 201 South Main, Danville. Carl Vass of Danville Congregational UCC will present the message. Community choir practices are at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 and Nov. 23 at Danville Methodist. Everyone is invited to join the choir! A special Love Offering will go toward the Danville Food Outreach which provides Thanksgiving bags to needy Danville area families & Christmas vacation food bags to Danville School families.
Nov. 27: Fifteenth Annual New London Community Thanksgiving Dinner
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The 15th Annual Free New London community Thanksgiving dinner will be held at the school cafeteria in Clark Elementary. Join other community members to visit and eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Volunteers are needed as well as donations of money, rolls, and deserts. Dec. 23: Pennebaker Grant applications due
Present-Dec. 23: The Pennebaker Foundation will be accepting applications until Dec. 23 for grants and gifts that it will make. The Pennebaker Foundation was founded in 1986 for the purpose of promoting the welfare of Henry County citizens and charitable organizations organized in Henry County. Grants and gifts can be made to nonprofit Henry County organizations. Grant requests may be mailed to: Pennebaker Foundation in care of Stephanie Nelson, 2332 Racine Avenue, New London, IA 62645. All applications must be tax exempt as determined by the Internal Revenue Service and must include the tax-exempt federal ID#.
Tiger Food Pantry Hours
Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m.
