Dec. 4: Winter Concert K-12
5:30 p.m. Tis the season for winter cheer! Please join the Vocal and Instrumental Music Department to celebrate another successful year of music at New London School District. The first three portions of the night will take place in the High School Gym and the Bands will be performing in the Auditorium.
Dec. 5: Tiger Cub Wrestling Tournament, Both Gyms
4:30 p.m. The New London Wrestling Boosters have planned a great opportunity for young aspiring wrestlers to gather at the Charles Lorber and Middle School Gymnasiums and show their skills. Plan to enjoy and support these youngsters as the compete in a friendly atmosphere.
Dec. 5: Henry County Conservation “Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader”
5:30-7 p.m. Compete singly or in pairs. Prizes for winners. Join the fun at the Oakland Mills Nature Center. Find out what fifth graders know!
Dec. 6: Christmas Shopping Event
10 a.m.-noon K-6 grade students are welcome to Christmas shop for their important people. Bring your students to the New London Clark Elementary Cafeteria. Send cash or check in a sealed envelope. Checks are payable to the Holiday Stroll. If you can send a list with your child it will help volunteers — think Mom, Dad, Siblings, Grandparents, Pets, etc.
Dec. 6: Jeremy Fulk Tournament
10 a.m. The Jeremy Fulk Invitational Wrestling Tournament begins. This important event features New London and neighboring school wrestlers in a challenging fun environment.
Dec. 9: Henry County Conservation Hunting and Processing Meat
5-7:30 p.m. Hunting season is here, so let's make sure you know what to do. Learn all our inside tips and tricks from set up to processing. Experts, come share your wisdom. Oakland Mills Nature Center.
Dec. 13: Holiday Stroll on New London’s Main Street
5-8 p.m. Main Street will be full of Christmas magic and holiday cheer! There are activities for the entire family to enjoy. Businesses are decorated and ready to greet everyone. Check out the map on Facebook and plan to visit them all. Santa will be available in his house waiting for the little ones to share their wish list with him.
Dec. 23: Pennebaker Grant applications due
Present-Dec. 23: The Pennebaker Foundation will be accepting applications until Dec. 23 for grants and gifts that it will make. The Pennebaker Foundation was founded in
1986 for the purpose of promoting the welfare of Henry County citizens and charitable organizations organized in Henry County. Grants and gifts can be made to nonprofit Henry County organizations. Grant requests may be mailed to: Pennebaker Foundation in care of Stephanie Nelson, 2332 Racine Avenue, New London, IA 62645. All applications must be tax exempt as determined by the Internal Revenue Service and must include the tax-exempt federal ID#.
