On Saturday, April 13 at the Presbyterian Church, 400 N Elm St, New London, from 2 – 4 p.m., family and friends will help Barb celebrate 90 years well lived. The family requests no gifts. Cards are welcome and will be very much appreciated.
New London Community School District Public Hearing April 15
The Public Hearing on the Proposed Property Tax Levy will be held in the New London Board Room, 106 West Wilson St on April 15 at 6 p.m. To view the public hearing notice visit www.nlcsd.org, click on district Info and scroll down to public hearings. The property tax levy is for the fiscal year July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024.
Backyard Chicken Basics April 17
Learn the basics of choosing and caring for backyard chickens at a two-hour workshop at 6:00 PM at the Lee County Extension office located at 414 North Main Street in Donnellson. The workshop is sponsored by Lee County Extension and Outreach and the ISU Extension and Outreach Small Farms program. Instructor Christa Hartsook will cover how to order, care for, and protect your new flock. Topics include brooding chicks, appropriate feeders and waterers and coop construction tips. The workshop will also include showmanship concepts and tips for 4-H’ers attending county fair. To register, Call 319-835-5116. New London Performing Arts “Twelfth” Treats & Trivia Fundraiser April 19
Register Now!!! This year’s Treats and Trivia fundraiser will be held April 19 at the Clark Elementary Cafeteria. This year’s theme is Banyard Bash and fun is guaranteed. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Trivia starts at 6 p.m. There are 8 rounds of Trivia & Delicious Food. There is a $250 fee per table of 10. To register, go to the New London Performing Arts Facebook page. Use the QR code or the site registration address. Some of the prizes are pictured as well. All proceeds benefit the New London Performing Arts Program.
New London Lions offer Breakfast for Dinner Saturday April 20
The New London Lions Club will hold their popular Red Barn Breakfast Fundraiser at Clark Elementary Cafeteria on Saturday April 20 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. The meal is $12 and includes: 2 biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, hashbrown patty, and a beverage (water, juice, milk, or coffee.) Come and enjoy a hearty dinner and have an amiable visit with community members.
Henry County Conservation begins registration for its summer camps
The first summer camp is Picnic in the Park: Nature is Gross. June 4 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Children ages 3-5 and a parent bring their lunch. All the slimy, creepy and icky things that nature has to offer will appear. Limit is 12 kids. $8 per child. Get ready for summer fun. Most camps are held at the Oakland Mills Nature Center.
Lions Club Request
The New London Lions Club needs your help. Mints are sold in various businesses in New London. Since the death of Lavelle Hibbs these sites have not been maintained nor has a list been found of where they are. Please contact Julie Brown,: 319-385-3822 or a Lions member. Also if you would like to add a Mint fundraiser for this important group, let them know. Thank you.
Tiger Pantry Regular Schedule
Tiger Pantry is open Thursdays, 3:30 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.
