Every Saturday Henry County Habitat for Humanity needs help

Henry County Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help build the 31st home, located at 400 East Henry in Mt. Pleasant. They build exclusively on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All necessary tools, water, and lunch are provided. If you would like additional information, please contact Lisa Diener at 319-931-0656.

Sac & Fox Lapidary Club Geode cracking party Saturday May 4, weather permitting

Do you have a geode whose insides you want to see. Members of the club will be cracking geodes, “Iowa's state rock,” at President Mike Messer’s home. Bring it to the party at 2517 Franklin Ave, Mt. Pleasant. Geodes nickel sized to 7 inches in diameter welcome. Learn about the club and enjoy some time with this friendly group of rock hounders. No charge but donations are welcome. One of the club’s current projects is a display of Iowa rocks and artifacts at the Oakland Mills Nature Center.

New London Fire and Rescue Department hosts Spaghetti Dinner May 4

End your shopping day at the New Londo Fire Station, 101 West Main Street. Spaghetti dinner will be served from 3 — 7 p.m. Support our Fire Department with a Free Will Donation and have a great supper as well.

Friends of Geode Group meeting May 5, Sunday

The board members of Friends of Geode State Park will be holding a group meeting on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. at the Bob Dodds Insurance south door meeting room located at 108 North Main Street in Danville. Officers will be elected and plans for summer activities discussed.
