Every Saturday Henry County Habitat for Humanity needs help
Henry County Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help build the 31st home, located at 400 East Henry in Mt. Pleasant. They build exclusively on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All necessary tools, water, and lunch are provided. If you would like additional information, please contact Lisa Diener at 319-931-0656.
New London PTO Carnival May 10
This popular year end event is back! On Friday, May 10 5-8 p.m. the PTO Carnival will be held in the new gym. Vendors will be in the circle drive and area outside the gym. Many fun things are planned. Make sure you come and enjoy!
Henry County Heritage Center opens the Iowa Wesleyan Archives Room
Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The public will then be invited to tour the newly designed area. Refreshments and some giveaways will be offered. The IW Archives will be open for touring and research on Mondays, 10:00 to 2:00, through June.
New London Senior Spotlight will be held Tuesday, May 14
On Tuesday, May 14 at 1:15 — 3:30 p.m., the Scholarship and Awards Ceremony will be held in the Ronald Coberley Auditorium. Families, friends, and the community are welcome. A Celebration Luncheon for Seniors and their Parents/Guardians will be held in the Charles Lorber Gymnasium from 12 — 1 p.m. The entire school district looks forward to celebrating each individual senior on this special day.
Hike a Park Series announced — Hike May 16 at Morris Park, Van Buren County
Des Moines County Conservation is teaming up with Louisa County Conservation, Lee County Conservation, and Van Buren County Conservation for the 2024 Spring Hike A Park series! The next hike is scheduled at Morris Park in Van Buren County from 4-5 PM. Participants should meet at the parking lot. The address to the park is 10938 Timber Rd, Stockport, IA 52651. These hikes are open to everyone and are completely free to join. Come to the park prepared to hike between 1 to 4 miles. Participants may leave at any time. Each hike will be led by experienced naturalists who will guide you through the park and answer any questions you might have.
