MS/HS Parents and Guardians: Final report cards and student bills (if applicable) were put in the mail June 14. Be looking for them in the next few days. Payments may be mailed or dropped off at any office Monday-Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Online payments can also be made through SchoolPay on our website.
Summer Solstice arrives June 20
In 2024, the longest day of the year (summer solstice) moment will fall at 3:51 p.m. CDT on Thursday, June 20. What is it? At the June solstice, the sun reaches its northernmost point. This point is on the celestial Tropic of Cancer, a parallel around the sky, 23.5 degrees north of the celestial equator. The days will begin to shorten. Enjoy the extra light while you can.
Swedesburg celebrates Midsommer June 21 at 6 p.m.
Step into the past with this traditional summer holiday observance. It’s a Midsummer Celebration at the Swedesburg Parrish Hall, 201 Academy in Swedesburg starting at 6:30pm! Join in a processional and dance around the Maypole! Listen to Swedish music by The Norwegian Bachelor Farmers and enjoy an ice cream social!
Friends of Geode YAK Attack June 22
The Danville Lion’s Club and Friends of Geode invite you to a YAK ATTACK at Lake Geode State Park from 10:00am – 3pm! Kayaking, Kids Activities, Food Trucks and more! $25 for a Kayak Entry and that includes a Tye Dye T-shirt! go to www.friendsofgeode.org/events for more information!
Bring your family to Geode State Park beach care. Kayak registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Volunteers are available to help but more are needed. Fun is in store for all ages. The prize drawings begin at 3 p.m.
Sac & Fox Lapidary Club provides geode cracking June 22
Weather permitting a geode cracking party will be held at 2517 Franklin Ave, Mount Pleasant. Bring your geodes to the President Mike Messer’s house and finally see the what is inside that beloved geode. Meet friendly members of the club. Find out about the Sac & Fox Lapidary Club. as well. Do not bring geodes over 8 inches in diameter.
Swing Dancing Lesson at New London Library June 22
Registration required, please call library at 367.7704. From 7 – 9 p.m. Michelle Baker will offer a 1 hour dance lesson with free dance time after. Have fun increasing your dancing skills.
Dover Sunday program on June 23 1:30 – 3 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday June 23, Annette Hanenberger will present a program at Dover Museum, 213 Main Street, New London. She will be sharing the story of Adolph Horn, an Orphan Train Rider, who came to New London as a child.
Guided Painting Lesson by Miss Brittney at Library June 25
Registration required. Miss Brittney will be teaching how to paint a “Blue Whale under the Stars. Share her expertise and perhaps begin a new hobby.
