Oct. 19 – Geode Challenge Race
9 a.m. Friends of Geode will host the Geode Challenge Trail Races at Geode State Park. Participants can run or walk a 5K, 12K, or 25K course. It is a dog-friendly event. Awards will be presented to first place male and female in each distance. Register on line at www.friendsofgeode.org/events or on-site at the Beach Shelter beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race day.
Oct. 18, 19 & Oct. 25. 26 Midwest Haunted Rails
6-10 p.m. Fridays and 6-10:30 Saturdays: Visit the Midwest Haunted Rails where spooky thrills and family fun collide! The Haunted Rails, Ghostly Trolley and the Haunted Carousel all provide rides all evening with one wristband. The event offers more excitement every year.
Oct. 20 Dover Museum
1:30 p.m. The Dover Museum at 213 W. Main Street in New London features a local Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Engineer who will discuss “Operation Lifesaver”. Operation Lifesaver is the railroad safety program for the general public. All are invited to this free event and encouraged to bring your children. Learn how to Stop, Look, Listen, and Live!
Oct. 20 Swedesburg Parrish Hall
1 p.m. It’s Story Time in Swedesburg with Chad Filley, a Scandinavian storyteller who is both hysterical and historical! This event will be held at the Swedesburg Parrish Hall, 201 Academy Ave. A free will donation is appreciated. Coffee, apple crisp & ice cream will be served.
October 21 New London Community Center
4-5:30 p.m. Henry County Public Health will be at the New London Community Center! Take advantage of this opportunity. Get your FLU SHOT and COVID-19 VACCINE. No appointment necessary. Bring your insurance card but if you do not have coverage, the vaccines are free! Please call the Public Health Office if you have questions: 319-385-0779.
Oct. 24 – Henry County Conservation – Bingo Night
6:30-8 p.m. Join in the fun and win cool prizes at Oakland Mills Nature Center BINGO NIGHT; Play Bingo with family and friends and explore the Nature Center! Preregistration is appreciated, but not required!
Nov. 11– Veterans Day
Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11. Once known as Armistice Day, this day now honors all military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
