Oct. 26 — Trunk or Treat at New London Specialty Care and Ray’s Specialty Meats
1-3 p.m.: A Spooktacular time at Ray’s Specialty Meats. Community organizations and businesses have opened their trunks, decorated their vehicles and dressed up. Bring your youngsters in costume and enjoy hot chocolate and candy.
1:30-3:30 p.m.: The residents of New London Specialty Care are anxiously waiting for witches, goblins, and superheroes to visit their Trunk or Treat gala. Residents will be welcoming visitors of all ages. Join the fun.
Oct. 26 — Henry County Heritage Trust hosts Preserve Oakland Mills
2 p.m.: Preserve Oakland Mills is giving an update on their project to reopen the Oakland Mills Foot Bridge. Learn the latest efforts at the Henry County Heritage Trust, 403 West Monroe Street in Mt. Pleasant.
Oct. 26 — New London VFW Post 7641 serving Saturday night Dinners
5-7 p.m.: On the second and fourth Saturdays of the month the VFW serves a ham steak dinner for $12 or a ribeye steak dinner for $22! Stop by the New London VFW.
Oct. 29 — Starr’s Cave Color Hike
5-6 p.m.: Starr’s Cave Fall Color Hike is a free, expert-led tour. The science behind seasonal leaf color changes will be discussed as well as various tree species! Dress for the weather and bring essentials such as water and bug spray! Registration is required by calling 319-753-5808.
Oct. 30 New London High School Blood Drive
7:30-11:30 a.m.: New London High School is hosting a BLOOD DRIVE in the Lorber Gymnasium at 101 West Wilson Street in New London. To schedule, please contact Cory Reid at cory.reid@nlcsd.org. Give blood and get your choice of a gift card, a donation to area food banks, or bonus points to the rewards store!
Oct. 31 — New London Town-wide Halloween
5 p.m. until gone: New London Lions will serve hot dogs in the City Park.
5-7 p.m.: Trunk or Treat at the City Park
5-7 p.m.: Trunk or Treat at the VFW
5-7 p.m.: Trick-or-treat at individual homes.
Nov. 3 — Daylight saving time ceases
2 a.m. Daylight saving time (DST) in North America ends on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024. Time FALLS BACK one hour. Reset your clocks before going to bed November 2.
Nov. 8 & 9 — SAVE THE DATE New London High School Fall Play
7 p.m. Nov. 8, 2 p.m. Nov. 9 and 7 p.m. Nov. 9, the murder mystery, “Deadline,” premieres on the Ron Coberley Auditorium stage. Plan to join our talented Masqued Tigers as they hold the you in suspense. Will you be able to figure out “Who Did It?”
