Nov. 2 — Kidsymphony: A Spooky Musical Adventure for the Whole Family!
2 p.m. Mount Pleasant Chapel Auditorium (former IWU Chapel). Treat your little ones to an afternoon of enchanting and spine-tingling music, with performances of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Danse Macabre as seen in Walt Disney’s Fantasia, Mussorgsky’s epic Night on Bald Mountain. Bring the whole family in costume for a chance to win fun prizes, take photos at our costume photo booth, and enjoy some delicious treats.
Nov. 3 — Daylight saving time ceases
2 a.m. Daylight saving time (DST) in North America ends on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024. Time FALLS BACK one hour. Reset your clocks before going to bed November 2.
Nov. 3 — Escape the Nature Center
Escape the Nature Center activity planned at the Oakland Mills Natural History Museum! Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through the month of November, get locked in the Nature Center and solve clues to escape within an hour! Up to 8 people per team, recommended for ages 7 and older. All proceeds go to the live animal fund. Preregister is required. Register at mycountyparks.com by 5 p.m. on the day you wish to attend. Sunday time slots are 11a-12p, 1p-2p, 3p-4p. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7pm. Slots have filled up quickly.
Nov. 5 — VOTE in Person
Be #VoterReady for Iowa’s elections by following these simple steps. A voting Iowan is an Iowan who is empowered to influence and create change at the federal, state, and local level. Casting your ballot is as easy as registering, providing proof of identification, and voting. The first step is registering to vote. You can do this at the polls on Election Day. Locate your precinct. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. CT.
Nov. 6 — Filling Station Youth collecting food for the Tiger Pantry
7-8 p.m. Mark your calendars, The Filling Station youth group will be hitting the streets of New London. They are collecting NON-PERISHABLE food items for our local Tiger food pantry. They will stop at houses with the porch light on. Please contact Heather Oliver if you'd like to be added to the route. All items are appreciated. Items that frequently requested are: canned fruits & vegetables, baked beans, and Ramen Noodles. Gift cards to local stores such as Ray's Meats, Hy-Vee, or Walmart are put to good use by the pantry workers. Thank you in advance.
Nov. 8 & 9 — SAVE THE DATE New London High School Fall Play
7 p.m. Nov. 8, 2 p.m. Nov. 9 and 7 p.m. Nov. 9, the murder mystery, “Deadline,” premieres on the Ron Coberley Auditorium stage. Plan to join our talented Masqued Tigers as they hold the you in suspense. Will you be able to figure out “Who Did It?”
