Feb. 7: Lee County Conservation holds Second Owl Prowl
6:30 p.m. Gather at the shelter house in Pollmiller Park for an evening walk with Naturalist Lia. Each hike will last about an hour, with plenty of time to listen for calls, learn about owl behavior, and soak up the peaceful nighttime scenery. Dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a flashlight (just in case!). Families and nature enthusiasts of all ages are welcome! Come prepared to be quiet, patient, and immersed in the magic of the forest at night! These events are free! To reserve your spot, email us at conservation@leecountyiowa.gov or call 319-463-7673. Feb. 8: New London VFW Post 7641 Catfish and Chicken Dinner
5-7 p.m. Catfish $13 and Chicken $9 per person dinners are available. Dinner Includes: Roll & Choice of 2 Sides. Sides: French Fries, Baked Beans & Coleslaw. These dinners are served every second and fourth Saturday evenings. Take out is available as well. Enjoy an evening meal at home or at the VFW.
Feb. 9: Holiday Stroll Bingo
1-4 p.m. It is time for Annual BINGO!!!! Come play Bingo with the New London Holiday Stroll Committee! Sweetheart Bingo is the first fundraiser for 2025 Holiday Stroll. All proceeds are used for that event. Enjoy visiting with everyone, win prizes and enjoy this first event. The groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter. This event will warm your heart and shorten the wait until spring.
Feb. 11: Preschool Open House
5:30-7 p.m. Preschool parent night open house for upcoming preschool students will be held in the preschool room at Clark Elementary. Entry to the building will be the south doors. If you have a child that will be 4 yrs. old by Sept. 15, 2025 then he/she would be eligible to attend. This is a tuition free preschool that is taught by a licensed teacher. Please call 319-367-0507 to get your students' names on the roster. Your child is welcome to attend the Open House.
Feb. 12: New London Tigers Shooting Sports Team Sign up
5-6:30 p.m. New London Sign up will be February 12th at New London community center. In case of questions or problems, please contact John Smyth 319.931.6673.
Feb. 13 Kindergarten Roundup
5:30-7 p.m. Clark Elementary begins its search for all of the upcoming kindergarten students for the 2025-2026 school year. We have scheduled Parent's Night Open House in the kindergarten rooms at Clark Elementary. Entry to the building will be at the south doors. If your child will be 5 years old by Sept. 15, 2025 please attend our parent night. Please bring your student with you so he/she will have an opportunity to meet the teachers and see the classrooms. Please call 319-367-0507 and make sure your student is on the list. We look forward to seeing you.
Feb. 15 HCC Seed Swap and DIY Greenhouse
1-3 p.m. Calling all gardeners! If you are already dreaming of spring planting season, come swap garden seeds and stories with others who feel the same. Addition fun will be building our own miniature greenhouse using a milk jug. Seasoned gardeners and newbies are both welcome. Preregistration is appreciated but not required.
Mar. 7-8: Shrek the Musical Performances
Shrek is just a month away. Plan to attend a performance of this engaging musical recounting the adventures of the lovable ogre, Shrek. Friday 7 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Watch the New London Journal for information.
