Seminar fee is $50 if registered by 2/14/25. $55 if registering Feb. 15-21. No Registrations Accepted after Feb. 21, 2025. Go to https://go.iastate.edu/CINEYK to complete sign-up.
Feb. 22: 100 Year Birthday Celebration
1-3:30 p.m. Elsie Williams was born Feb. 21, 1925. Everyone is invited to join the family and celebrate this important day with her at Deerwood Golf Club/ For those unable to attend the festivities, cards can be sent to Elsie at 203 Clark St., Lowell, IA 52645.
Feb. 22: New London VFW Post 7641 Catfish and Chicken Dinner
5-7 p.m. New London VFW post 7641 is serving their delicious Catfish & Chicken Dinner. Catfish is $13 per person and Chicken is $9 per person! Your dinner includes a roll and a choice of 2 sides: French fries, baked beans and coleslaw.
Feb. 22: Iowa Legislative Forum
8:30 a.m. The Mt. Pleasant Chamber Alliance Government Relations Committee is hosting a Legislative Forum featuring State Representatives Taylor Collins and Jeff Shipley and State Senators Adrian Dickey and Mark Lofgren. The forum will be held at the Union Block, 111 W. Monroe Street in Mt. Pleasant. All MP Area Chamber of Commerce Members are invited.
Feb. 23: P.E.O. Chapter OX Fundraiser
2 p.m. Chapter OX of P.E.O. is hosting “Puzzle Palooza” at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Mt. Pleasant. Tickets are $20 per person available at Brown’s Shoe Fit or by calling 319-931-1300! Work in teams of 4, no team needed and snacks will be provided. Proceeds from the Puzzle Palooza go toward Supporting Educational Opportunities for Women!
Feb. 27: Clark Fun Night
5:30-7 p.m. Visit Clark Elementary “Night at the Living Museum.” Students have worked hard selecting a topic and preparing unique ways to present what they have learned. Hot dogs and macaroni and cheese will be available in the cafeteria. Enjoy a dinner out and a fun tour through all the classrooms.
Mar. 1: Master Gardeners Winter Seminar
8 a.m.-4 p.m. Keynote by Jim Kessler, retired professor from Iowa Valley Community College “Why Native Plants Matter to all of Life,” will start this annual winter seminar. The day will be filled with 3 one-hour long breakout sessions. A light breakfast and buffet lunch are included in the $50 cost of registration.
Mar. 7-8: Shrek the Musical Performances
Shrek is just a month away. Plan to attend a performance of this engaging musical recounting the adventures of the lovable ogre, Shrek. Friday 7 p.m. Saturday 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Watch the New London Journal for information.
Mar. 8: HCC Seed Swap and DIY Greenhouse
1-3 p.m. Calling all gardeners! If you are already dreaming of spring planting season, come swap garden seeds and stories with others who feel the same. Addition fun will be building our own miniature greenhouse using a milk jug. Seasoned gardeners and newbies are both welcome. Preregistration is appreciated but not required.
