March. 20: Vernal Equinox — Astronomical Spring arrives
4:01 a.m. CDT: On Thursday in the Northern Hemisphere spring arrives. The day is also known for having equal time for day and night.
March 21: Friends of Conservation Banquet Fundraiser
5 p.m. Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Raffles, a silent and a live auction will be held. This important local organization helps many projects in the County. Show your support and have a pleasant event and fine meal. Call Tony Kempker 319-931+2866 for more information.
March. 22: Day of the Child Westland Mall
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free fun activities for children and information for families as well as a Jim Gill Concert in Center Court at 10 a.m. This free event is sponsored by Community Action of Southeast Iowa, Southeast Early Childhood Committee, Quad County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children and DHLW+M Early Childhood
March. 22: New London VFW Catfish & Chicken Dinner
5-7:30 p.m. The New London V.F.W. Post 7641 is holding a Catfish & Chicken Dinner. Catfish is $13 per person, Chicken is $9 per person and dinner includes a roll and your choice of two sides (french fries, baked beans, coleslaw).
March. 27: Henry County Conservation offers Dutch oven cooking course
6-8 p.m. Learn how to use a Dutch oven to prepare a three-course meal over a campfire. Try out new recipes and learn some handy tips. Menu TBD. Preregistration is required before March 20 at 5 p.m. and is limited to 12 participants, so sign up quickly. Children >=12 years are welcome. $15 per participant to cover the cost of the food. There is a waiting list.
March. 28: Dover Historical Society resumes monthly Board meetings
1:30 p.m. The monthly meeting of the Dover Historical Society will be held Friday, March 28. at the museum. All members are invited to attend. Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
March. 29: New London Iowa Dollars for Scholars Fundraiser
5-7 p.m. The 2025 Dollars for Scholars auction will be held at the New London Community School, Lorber Gymnasium, on Saturday, March 29th. For a Free Will donation visitors will be served a delicious meal prepared by the New London School's food class. Auction will start at 6 p.m. New London graduating students are all eligible for the money raised by this organization. “Scholarship” is really defined as meeting the needs of students beginning their postgraduation careers. The community wants to see all its graduates succeed as they begin their lives beyond public school.
March. 29: Lee County Conservation Center in person Hunter Education Course
8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 29 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lee County Conservation Center is offering an in-person Hunter Education Course. This is a great opportunity for our young men and women to get certified, purchase a license and be ready for the 2025 Fall hunting season.
