May 2-3: New London Citywide Garage/Yard Sales

May 3: Des Moines County Master Gardeners plant sale
Des Moines County Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale, rain or shine, at the Des Moines County Extension Office in West Burlington, Iowa. Annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetable plants and houseplants will be available for sale. There will also be tools, horticultural books, and other garden-related items available to purchase.
May 3-4: Dover Museum open for Summer Visiting Season
1-4 p.m. The Dover Museum, 213 W. Main St, New London, begins the summer visiting season on Saturday May 3. The museum will be open every weekend from May through October. Enjoy a visit to past businesses, the lore of the New London’s early settlers and many items used to settle this area. The museum is open by appointment as well. Call 319.367.2573.
May 3: The Van Allen House opens
1-4 p.m. The Van Allen House will be open on the first Saturday of each month. The home is located on the Henry County Heritage Trust Campus, Saunders Elementary School, 403 W Madison St, Mt. Pleasant. The Van Allen House faces White Street and sits next to Saunders.
May 4: Swedesburg Lutheran Church celebrates Star Wars Day
3 p.m. Join Swedesburg Lutheran Church for a FREE CONCERT celebrating Star Wars Day. Jacob Sprengeler will perform well known organ works featured in the film industry, along with a sampling of other film favorites. The concert is open to the public and any donations will benefit the Organ Fund.
May 5 The Harlan Lincoln House to host a “Grab N Go” Lunch Fundraiser
11:30 a.m. — 1 p.m. The Come to the First Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. The Grab-N-Go Lunch has been prepared by Methodist Ladies. Menu: Ham & Provolone Croissant, Bean Salad, Chips, Cookie and Water. Tickets are $10 and available from Brown’s Shoe Fit, the Harlan Lincoln House on Wed. or Sat. (2-4pm) or by phone: 319-931-1031 or email: hassenfritzk56@gmail.com. FREE delivery is available for 10 or more orders. ALL PROCEEDS go to the Harlan Lincoln House!
May 5 City of New London Spring Clean Up
Disposal items must be bagged/boxed and placed within 3 ft of the roadway/curb. The items must be out on your regular pickup day by 6 a.m. This is an ideal time to get rid of miscellaneous household bulk items. Volume per household is limited to a pickup truck bed volume. Check out all the directions published by the City of New London. See the City of New London Iowa Facebook page. Many items are not eligible for pickup or have special directions.

Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday 9:00-11 a.m.
