May 21: Summer Reading Program begins at Nugen Library
“Chalk the Walk” began on May 21. Stop in the library soon and get signed up for a fun filled summer of reading.
May 22: Clark Fun Day
1:15 p Staff and volunteers will host one of the most popular end-of-year activities. Lots of games and water activities for students.
May 23: Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony
10 a.m. Parents, Guardians, family and friends will gather in the High School auditorium on Friday, May 23 to acknowledge the Eighth-grade class and welcome them to the high school for the 2025-26 year.
May 23: Library Last Day of School Taco Party
11 a.m.-1 p.m. School dismisses at 11 a.m. on Friday May 23. The annual taco party is being help at the Nugen Library. This is a time to get together, sign up for the reading program and learn about the activities being held at the library.
May 23: Dover Historical Society Board Meeting
1:30 p.m. The monthly meeting of the Dover Historical Society will be held Friday, May 23 at the museum. All members are invited to attend as your input is welcome. Many interesting things are on the agenda.
May 23: Henry County Conservation presents Natural World Crafts
3:30 p.m. The natural world has inspired many artists throughout history. In this program, local artist Deb Scott will guide you to create fun art projects using tree bark and other natural materials. Preregistration is greatly appreciated.
May 23: Burge Cemetery Association Memorial Day Service
5 p.m. The Burge Cemetery Association invites the public to a Veterans Memorial Day Service on Friday, May 23 This special event will celebrate and commemorate the completion of the beautiful new Veterans Memorial at the cemetery. Please join us in honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes.
May 26: VFW Post 7641 Memorial Day Observance
2 p.m. VFW Post 7641 and its Auxiliary will host a Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 25 at the New London Veterans Memorial site. Lawn chairs are suggested. If the weather is inclement, the ceremony will be held at the VFW Post 7641, 802 East McKinley in New London.
May 28: ISU Extension presents “Under the Sea” at the Nugen Library
1-3 p.m. Henry County 4-H and area libraries are hosting free summer camps. The camps are designed for elementary-aged students. Themes for the summer camps are “Dive into live under the sea” and “Venture into the wild” with fun, hands-on STEM activities. Contact the New London HJ Nugen Library, the Winfield Public Library, and the Salem Crew Library to register! The first camp is at the New London Library on May 28th!
May 30: Henry County Conservation presents Women: Woods, Wine, Flowers
6 p.m. Flowers are beautiful, but their beauty fades quickly. Find out the best way to preserve them and make art worthy of being hung on a wall. This Women. Woods. Wine. event starts with a social time with alcohol provided, and you can also bring your own. Preregistration is required via mycountyparks.com at least 1 week prior to the meeting. Adults 21+ only. All meetings will be held in the Oakland Mills Nature Center. FREE.

Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday 9-11 a.m.
