June 13-15: 43rd Annual Farmington Strawberry Festival
The 43rd Annual Farmington Strawberry Festival is underway this weekend! There are activities for every interest throughout the 3 day event. Enjoy bands each evening at the American Legion along with fun, food, and strawberries! 2 p.m. — 4 p.m. FREE STRAWBERRIES & ICE CREAM will be served at the Berry Tent on Second Street.
June 14: Paddle the Skunk
1-5 The Skunk is a beautiful river, so come explore it up close! Both canoes and kayaks are welcome, although kayaks must be brought by participants. Meet at Waterworks Campground. Preregistration is required before June 7, but space is limited, so register quickly! This event may be rescheduled based on water levels.
June 14: Flag Day
Flag Day is a day to honor the American flag and its history. It commemorates the adoption of the first national flag design by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. Take time to reflect on the meaning of the flag and the responsibilities required by a democracy.
June 15: Father’s Day
Father's Day is a holiday honoring one's father, as well as fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. Take some time and say “Thank you”
June 18: NL Nugen Library Taste the Movie
2:30-4 p.m. Lilo and Stitch. Watch the movie and enjoy some snacks featured in the film.
June 20: Family Drive-In Movie Night
8:30 p.m. Join the Filling Station Youth Group at the New London Christian Church (2770 New London Road) for the “Lego Batman” movie! The movie starts at 9 p.m., and the concession stand will be open! Bring camp chairs, an FM Radio, and donations are suggested at $5/person or $20/carload. All proceeds will fund the Jr. High Camp and High School service trip!
June 21: Summer Solstice
Called the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere because it heralds the beginning of the new astronomical season of summer, the longest day of the year begins year at precisely 02:42 UTC on Saturday, June 21, 2025 (9:42 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 20) UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time. It is a standard used to establish time zones worldwide.
June 21: Disk Golf Tournament Fundraiser
7:30 — 9 a.m. Registration time for the Save the Bridge Disc Golf Tournament at Oakland Mills. Tee Off at 9:30 a.m. Fees for the tournament are $10/person, $20/team, $5/child under age 16.Lunch is available at LULU’s Landing for a free will donation!
June 21: Library LEGO Waffles
9:30-10 a.m. Saturday Story time Adventures: Lego Waffles. Learn about these stackable waffles that act like Lego bricks.
June 21: Friends of Geode host YAK Attack
10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This fundraising event is sponsored by the Danville Lions and hosted by the Friends of Geode. Register at the Beach Shelter. All proceeds go to restoration of the concession stand and projects keeping Geode State Park a recreation area for all. Join fellow kayakers for a fun day on the lake. Entry fee is $25 which includes a t-shirt. Friends of Geode will be providing help to get kayaks to the beach. Food, merchandise and prizes are all in the mix for this great day outdoors. Canoes are also welcome.
Tiger Food Pantry Hours
Tiger Pantry hours are Thursday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m.
