June 20: Family Drive-In Movie Night
8:30 p.m. Join the Filling Station Youth Group at the New London Christian Church (2770 New London Road) for the “Lego Batman” movie! The movie starts at 9 p.m., and the concession stand will be open! Bring camp chairs, an FM Radio, and donations are suggested at $5/person or $20/carload. All proceeds will fund the Jr. High Camp and High School service trip!

Called the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere because it heralds the beginning of the new astronomical season of summer, the longest day of the year begins year at precisely 02:42 UTC on Saturday, June 21, 2025 (9:42 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 20) UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time. It is a standard used to establish time zones worldwide.
June 21: Disk Golf Tournament Fundraiser
7:30 — 9 a.m. Registration time for the Save the Bridge Disc Golf Tournament at Oakland Mills. Tee Off at 9:30 a.m. Fees for the tournament are $10/person, $20/team, $5/child under age 16. Lunch is available at LULU’s Landing for a free will donation!
June 21: Library LEGO Waffles
9:30-10 a.m. Saturday Story time Adventures: Lego Waffles. Learn about these stackable waffles that act like Lego bricks.
June 21: Friends of Geode host YAK Attack
10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This fundraising event is sponsored by the Danville Lions and hosted by the Friends of Geode. Register at the Beach Shelter. All proceeds go to restoration of the concession stand and projects keeping Geode State Park a recreation area for all. Join fellow kayakers for a fun day on the lake. Entry fee is $25 which includes a T-shirt. Friends of Geode will be providing help to get kayaks to the beach. Food, merchandise and prizes are all in the mix for this great day outdoors. Canoes are also welcome.
June 21: “Henry County Confederates” program at HC Heritage Center Museum
2 p.m. Humanities Iowa Speaker David Connon will present this interesting issue. David has spent nearly two decades researching dissenters in Iowa: He shares these stories with audiences across the state. David will feature little-known information about three Henry County men who served the Confederacy. The Henry County Heritage Center Museum — 403 West Madison Street — Mount Pleasant. HCHT has received funding from Humanities Iowa, a private, nonprofit, to host this presentation.
June 21: A Midsummer Celebration is planned at Parish Hall, 201 Academy Ave. in Swedesburg.
The Processional starts at 6 p.m. with the honored August Sanford Johnson family, dancing around the maypole, and folk music by the Lower Iowa Nordic Ensemble. An Ice cream social will follow and all are welcome!
June 24: Wild Game Potluck with Henry County Conservation Staff
6-8 p.m. Enjoy a wild game potluck with the Henry County Conservation Staff at the Oakland Mills Nature Center. Venison, elk, duck, turtle … bring a dish to pass and copies of the recipe! June 28: Friends of Conservation Skunk River Float
10 a.m. Beginner four-hour float from Old 34 to Waterworks Park.
11 a.m. Intermediate: 6 hr. Float from Gibson Park to Waterworks Park. You do not have to be a member to participate! A light dinner is planned after the float. Brats and hot dogs around 6 p.m. in the park. A fun filled day is in store for you.
