June 20 — July 10: HCC Guided Hike “Outdoor Games”
Come learn about different games to play outside as you walk along the trails at Oakland Mills Park. Begin at Turtle Town next to the Oakland Mills Nature Center where you will receive further instructions on where to go next. Free! Fun!
June 28: Dover Museum welcomes visitors
1-4 p.m. The Dover Museum in New London is open Saturday and Sunday afternoons every weekend through October. Begin at 213 W. Main Street and plan to visit the entire campus including the Pilot Grove Depot and the Chapel.
June 28: Friends of Conservation Skunk Float
10 a.m. Beginner: 4 hr. Float from Old 34 to Waterworks Park.
11 a.m. Intermediate: 6 hr. Float from Gibson Park to Waterworks Park. You do not have to be a member to participate! A light dinner is planned after the float. Brats and hot dogs around 6 p.m. in the park. A fun filled day is in store for you.
July 2 Nugen Library Cardboard City
2-4 p.m. Join the Wednesday afternoon activities at the New London Public Library. Use your imagination and skill building with cardboard.
July 4 Independence Day
Take advantage of the many activities going on in our communities and celebrate the Fourth of July.
10 a.m. New London VFW Post 7641 Parade honors Quilt of Valor recipients.
5 p.m. Mt. Pleasant at McMillan Park A full evening is planned beginning with a parade, trolley rides, bouncy houses and ending with Fireworks at dark.
4:30-7 p.m. Salem, Iowa in the Town Square Cruise night with Classic cars, and the Salem Farmer’s Market
6:30 a.m. Wayland A full day of events is planned by the Wayland Lions Club! Events start with breakfast and include a parade, lunch, and fireworks! Check out the schedule at www.waylandiowa.com or KILJ community calendar.
July 8 4-6 HCC Pond Management
4-6 p.m. The Henry County Conservation Department will be talking Farm Pond Management with DNR Officer Chad Dolan. The discussion will center around building and caring for your pond and how to use it for both conservation and recreation. All are welcome to the Oakland Mills Nature Center, south of Mt. Pleasant, and preregistration is not required.
