Sept. 19: Orders are due for the Middle School Fundraiser
The Middle School fundraiser with Flour Barn Bakery is underway! Students are selling delicious cakes to support the annual 8th grade trip. All orders are due by September 19th. Your support makes a difference. Contact an eighth grader and complete your order.
Sept. 19: Special night of Football, FFA Ag Night and the New London Band
7 p.m. Tigers kickoff against the Wapello Indians!
Get your tickets for Barn Yard Bingo before the game to support the FFA chapter/New London Ag program. Bid on a silent auction item.
Half time activities – Farm Bureau presents the FFA with a $1,500 New Chapter recognition check.
Listen to the New London Band’s rendition of special Ag songs.
Sept. 20: Oakland Mills Fun Day
11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. This Preserve Oakland Mills fundraiser supports the restoration of the walking bridge across the Skunk. Gather at the Southshore for Oakland Mills Fun Day all day! Food available. Live music 5-8 p.m. Activities from 3-7 p.m. Horseshoe Tournament Lulu’s Dam Grill will be open from 11a-7:30p, Live Music from 5p-8p, and activities from 3p-7p! Registration at noon.
Sept. 20: Pioneer Cemetery Day at Henry County Heritage Museum
2 p.m. The Henry County Cemetery Commission will feature a county township and the pioneer cemeteries located there. The Heritage Trust Museum is open from 1p-4p on Saturday afternoons. The event will be held in the Event Room at the Henry County Heritage Trust Museum, 403 W. Madison, Mount Pleasant.
Sept. 20: HCC
1-3 p.m. The Oakland Mills Nature Center invites you to “Tree Talk” with DNR Officer Lisa Louck. Learn how to identify trees by their leaves, and play tree games. Registration is not required.
Sept. 21: Dover Sunday presents Model Building Extraordinaire
1:30 p.m. September’s Dover Sunday’s program will feature the work of Seth Eberhardt. Seth is a master model builder. His presentation on Scale Models will include agriculture and buildings of the past. The Dover Museum is open every Sunday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. Through October.

The fall equinox and the first day of autumn arrive on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at 2:19 p.m. EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. The equinox occurs at the same moment worldwide.
Sept. 23 New London Nugen Library presents program on WWI and suffrage
5 p.m. Anne Hannigan will present her program on World War I and Women’s Suffrage at the library. Don’t miss this informative, interesting narrative.
Sept. 24: HCPH Senior Health Fair
9:30-11:30 a.m. The 2nd annual Senior Health Fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant (803 E. Maple Leaf Dr.). Flu and COVID shots will be available as well as health screenings (blood pressure, fall risk, depression & anxiety, hearing), and community resource tables. Free event!
Sept. 27-28: New London City Yard Sales
The Fall Citywide Yard Sales for New London, Iowa, are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, and Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. Residents of New London will be participating. More details and a list of participating homes on the New London Iowa City Wide Yard Sales Facebook group.
Sept. 27: VFW Ham or Ribeye Steak Dinners
5-7 p.m. The New London VFW is serving steak dinners. Enjoy a Ham Steak Dinner for $12 or a Ribeye Steak Dinner for $22. Your dinner includes a baked potato, salad & dinner roll!
Sept. 27: Red Flag Horseless Carriage
Plans for our 2025 tour are complete! The Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour visits New London on Saturday, Sept. 27 the race from New London to Brighten begins in the City Park. You'll see many pre- 1927 vehicles.
Sept. 26, 27, 28: 221st Annual Geode Family Fest
The First Christian Church Parking Lot * 3476 Main Street * Keokuk, Iowa will be full of vendors. Guided Geode Hunts, Rocks, Minerals, Fossils & Jewelry Dealers, Geode Cracking, Geode Identification, Food, Family Fun. Three days of geode hunting with experienced guides to some locations not normally hunted throughout the year!
