Sept. 27-28: New London City Yard Sales
The Fall Citywide Yard Sales for New London, Iowa, are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. Residents of New London will be participating.
Sept. 27: VFW Ham or Ribeye Steak Dinners
5-7 p.m. The New London VFW is serving steak dinners. Enjoy a Ham Steak Dinner for $12 or a Ribeye Steak Dinner for $22. Your dinner includes a baked potato, salad & dinner roll!
Sept. 27: Red Flag Horseless Carriage
Plans for our 2025 tour are complete! The Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour visits New London on Saturday, Sept. 27 The race from New London to Brighten begins in the City Park. You'll see many pre-1927 vehicles.
Sept. 26- 28: 221st Annual Geode Family Fest
The First Christian Church Parking Lot — 3476 Main Street, Keokuk, Iowa — will be full of vendors. Guided Geode Hunts, Rocks, Minerals, Fossils & Jewelry Dealers, Geode Cracking, Geode Identification, Food, Family Fun. Three days of geode hunting with experienced guides to some locations not normally hunted throughout the year!
Sept. 28: Winfield Historical Society presents Winfield Cemetery Walk
1:30-e:30 p.m. The Winfield Historical Society and Museum’s Winfield History Cemetery Walk will be held rain or shine, unless the weather is severe. Meet at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery on 130th Street in Winfield at 1:30 p.m. Tour rides are available for those who need one.
Oct. 1: National Coffee with a Cop Day at HC Sheriff’s Office
6:30-8:30 a.m. Enjoy coffee and conversation at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office/ Sheriff Rich McNamee will be in the lobby of the sheriff’s office at 800 S. Grand Avenue! They will have the coffee; you bring the conversation.
Oct. 3: Chili/Soup Cookoff
Sign up now! Main Street Mt. Pleasant is calling all chefs to sign up for the chili/soup cook-off on Friday, Oct. 3 in Mt. Pleasant’s Central Park! We’re looking for chefs — professional, amateur, or anyone who loves to cook to enter the Chili & Soup Challenge at Pints in the Park. Bring your best recipe and let the crowd decide who goes home with bragging rights (and prizes). To sign up, message Main Street Mt. Oct. 4: New London Partnership Oktoberfest
Fun activities and details are still being announced for the New London Partnership Oktoberfest. The day will begin with a 5K Run/Walk. A bags tournament and kids’ activities are planned. Homemade pretzels and apple flavored treats are planned along with a street dance and live music to end the night. LJ’s Tap House is celebrating Fall Oktoberfest with Karaoke. There is a $10 cover charge. All fund raised at this event will be used to create the new City Park.
Oct. 4-5: Southeast Iowa Depot Tour
Embark on a journey through time and discover the rich history of our region's historical depots. Join us for the Southeast Iowa Depot Tour, where you can visit museums, railroad displays, and 16 lovingly preserved depots nestled in the scenic rolling hills of our region. Nov. 4: City and School Board Elections
Keep an eye on the local elections. Plan to vote.
City of New London Council: Vote for three: Dan Berner, John Doyle, Scott Campbell, Brad Helmerson.
New London Community School District School Board: At Large, vote for two: Jessica Boyer, John Housman, Kyle Helmerson.
