With or without football, Homecoming began on Sept. 28 with the annual kickball match. It looks like baseball, sort of, but it only uses a kickball. The teams are dressed in class color t-shirts. The Seniors were in black; Juniors - white; Sophomores - gold, and Freshmen - pink.
Everyone has an opportunity to “bat.” That involves kicking the ball. The seniors were sure they would emerge victorious, but they fell to the juniors. There was a lot of fun kidding going on, and the seniors took their ignominious defeat in good humor. The match drew many spectators and took about two hours to find a champion.
While the kids were all-in trying to win for their class, they seemed to be having a great time.
Homecoming will proceed as planned for the most part. The kids are really being good sports about the unfortunate loss of the football program. So we’ll follow their lead and have a great time celebrating!
