Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
On an early spring day, Jayden Bergman was born. The date was March 19, 2008, and his ecstatic parents were Allison and Kevin Bergman. He would also be the start of a long line of brothers: Natan-15, Malak-12, and Gage-7. He was and is loved by grandparents Judy Bergman and Chuck and Peggy Griffin.
Since kindergarten, Jayden has been a member of the class of 2026. He is very busy with school activities. He is a member of the National Honor Society, M Power U, and a regular on the honor roll. He participates in theater, baseball, and Esports (SSBU, Mario Kart, Smite, Overwatch 2, Valorant, and League of Legends).
When he’s not busy at school, he might be playing video games or attending the local TCG tournaments.
His honors include being on a five-time state participant team in Esports. In 2023, his team was 3rd in Smite and 2nd in Super Smash Bros, In 2024, his team was 3rd in both Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. In 2025, they were second in Super Smash Bros.
Jayden’s proudest memory was when he ended the Super Smash Bros. Esports with the highest “kill death” average in Iowa. Impressive!
His most embarrassing moment was throwing up in the weight room during morning lifting.
Jayden feels that his class is special because they are super close. An example of that is how his class dealt with the death of one of their fellow classmates.
Jayden has a lot to say about his special person. He singled out Joseph Charles White (Mr. White). Jayden says, “He is a wonderful teacher who I always look forward to seeing. Every day when you enter his classroom, you NEVER know what antics he is up to or what the class period may hold. Even when he isn’t up to any of his schemes, he is still always fun to talk to. Plus who doesn’t like art … it is one of the easiest classes ever!”
Jayden’s advice to the underclassmen is to take all of the art classes. Mr. White is a wonderful teacher and the class is fun.
Jayden is looking forward to graduation. He is still undecided about what college, but he plans on majoring in computer science. He looks forward to figuring out what he’ll do after college.
Tiger Nation will miss his enthusiasm, but is confident he will be successful in whatever he pursues. Go get ‘em Jayden!
