JH Cross-Country Update

This is the first season in several that there are no New London high school athletes running cross-country with the combined Danville-New London team. But there are several New London kids participating at the JH level.

There are seven boys and two girls. The boys are Natan Bergman, Jaece Deterding, Paislee Owen, Bentley Wright, Zayden Lawrence, Vincent Ngugi, and Jayden Wagner. The girls include Irelynn Kelly and Bella Parker.

The JH is coached by Bridget Swailes with assistance from Head Coach Lucas Gourley.

Their first meet was Thursday, August 31 at Wildwood Park in Ottumwa with Pekin hosting.

The boys’ team placed second overall. The results include:

•Natan Bergman - 6th @ 9:54.

•Jaece Deterding - 10th @ 10:08.

•Paislee Owens - 14th @ 10:18.

•Bentley Wright - 19th @ 10:50.

•Zayden Lawrence - 22nd @ 10:55.

•Vincent Ngugi - 31st @ 12:02.

•Jayden Wagner - 36th @ 15:32.

The girls finished:

•Irelyn Kelly - 16th @ 12:13.

•Bella Parker - 29th @ 14:18.

The next meet is Thursday, Sept. 7 at Fairfield.
