They weren’t quite undefeated, but the seventh and eighth grade team was close. On Oct. 16, they traveled north to take on the Don Bosco Dons for their final contest of the year. They proved to be the spoilers of the Tigers’ undefeated season … but 4-1 … we’ll take it!
Don Bosco opened the game with a quick scoring drive to make it 6-0. The Tigers answered with a Kellan Porter rushing TD to tie the score.
The Dons scored a TD and a two-point conversion. The Tigers came right back with a Kendall Connelly TD … 14-12, the Dons. The score was back and forth, but the Dons led 36-20 at half.
New London opened the second half with a Porter rushing TD after Cole Swanson returned the kickoff to Bosco’s 4-yard line. The score was 36-26. Don Bosco scored three more times to the Tigers’ two on TDs by Connelly and Porter, making the final score 58-40.
Swanson again led the defense with 10 tackles while Riley Merschman added six. Connelly, Porter, Liam Garvey, and Reed Lindsey each had three.
It was a great season and the Tiger football future looks bright! A big shoutout to Chad Wahls for his coaching of these boys, his time and effort are truly appreciated.
It was a total team effort and every boy contributed. The team was made up of Kendall Connelly, Owen Severson, Emmett Garza, Tucker Larkins, Tucker Syfert, Landon Smyth, Brylor Lair, Zander Amburn, Braxton Wright, Reed Lindsey, Cole Swanson, Johnathan Gallup, Kellan Porter, Rhys Nelson, Liam Garvey, Riley Merschman, and Dylan Burden.
