Junior High Boys and Girls track crowns six conference champs

The JH Tigers finished up their track and field season with the conference meet at West Burlington.

When the night was over, the Tigers had crowned six conference champions. The boys had four and the girls had two. Considering that both teams are dealing with limited numbers, it was a good showing. The shuttle hurdle team finished in second place by .09 of a second but broke the school record almost every time they ran it, smashing it on this night by almost seven seconds. Hailey Deterding broke the 400 open JH record set in 2005 by Kristen McPheron. She also was conference champ in the high jump…pretty impressive!

The boys team finished 4 th with 97 points. Individual event results follow:

Coach Barron summed up the boys’ season, “ Even when we didn't finish as Conference Champions, we usually were able to get personal bests or break school records. I want to thank each and every middle school boy who decided to give track a try this year. I think that if every single person gave track and cross country a try next year, then NL track will continue to have success. Some of next year's freshmen will contribute immediately and some of our newcomers to track will help next year and gets lots of points for the team in a couple of years.”

The girls team finished in 6 th place with 48 points. Individual event results follow:
