•The annual school election is Monday, March 8th. For County Board of Education, Vote for one of the following: Donald Bell, Gertrude Elliott, Woodrow Hale, or Wilbur Sater.
• Elmer Knutson is the first to report early bulbs coming up.
• Wayne Henessee is a new student from Yarmouth. He is in the 3rd grade.
• At the Alamo this week: “The Vigilantes Return” starring Andy DeVine and “The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer” starring Cary Grant and Shirley Temple.
• The Nu Home Company has formed to build new homes in New London. The officers are: Pres.-T.J. Newman, VP-John McClure, Sec./Treas.-C.F. Eichler, and Director - Wilbur Flam.
1973
• P.E.O. Chapter EV will meet at the home of Mrs. Ruth Toft. Hostess is Mrs. Helen Coen. The program is “Relaxing Through Ceramics.”
• Mrs. Nora Duke entertained at a miscellaneous bridal shower in her home for Mrs. Jeanine Lee, a recent bride.
• Senior Interviews this week: Kathy Wolfe and Becky Barnes.
• Mr. and Mrs. Dale Piper spent the weekend in Chicago where they met Mrs. Piper’s sister and husband.
• A number of local men competed last week in a 2-day Mid-Winter Western Championship tractor pull in the Kansas City Royals’ arena in Kansas City. John Strothman, Fred Strothman, and Rodney Wallmam all competed.
1998
• Justin Garvey is the #1 wrestler at 189 pounds in the state. He won the Class 1A championship when he defeated St. Ansgar’s Derrick Powers 10-4 at Des Moines last weekend.
• The Marquette Warriors defeated the Tigers to put an end to their season. Fean Wagner led the Tigers with 19 points.
• LaVonne Fulton, Eileen Meagher, and Deanne Leu were honored for at least 20 years of service at the NL Care Center.
• Obituaries this week: Lloyd McKinnon and Francis H. Boler.
2013
• Elsie Miller to celebrate 90th birthday on March 17.
• Senior Spotlights this week: Meaghan Noel Grace, Jessie Lee Barr, and Braydon Keith Wolfe.
• P.E.O. Chapter EV met at Friendship Hall. Hostesses were Jane Simmons and Betty Grove.
• Pat Reid who broke her hip in a fall is recuperating at the NL Nursing and Rehab Center and is doing well.
