1950
- State indoor and other track meets have been set a month too early according to the weather this season. Coach James Eversman hopes they can get in some practice for the Hawkeye meet in Iowa City.
- Carl Totemeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Totemeier, has been elected treasurer of the Agricultural Council at Iowa State University.
- Mrs. T. J. Layman’s circle will meet with Mrs. Claire Bishop on April 6.
- A surprise party was held at the New London Hall in honor of Berdita Mosbey’s 18th birthday. Those in attendance were Marilyn Corrick, Leatrice Patterson, Charlotte Golliday, Suzanne Wessel, Clifford Brown, Howard Knott, George Elliott, Gerald Vice, Freddie Madison, and Wayne Taeger.
- Only a token vote was registered in New London for the City election. Fifty-seven votes were cast. The vote was Mayor Leedham - 56, Jim Collins - 57, W.S. Corey - 56, Dave Marshall- 55, Hugh William McKinnon - 56, Dale Piper - 55, an E.N. Smith for treasurer - 53.
- Senior Interviews this week - Andy Breuer, Ellen Jones, Camille Beattie, and Hayward Rogers.
- A four room one story house with closed-in porch, electricity, and city water - $1500. Sold by Gordon Reese.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad” starring Bing Crosby and “The Doctor and the Girl” starring Glenn Ford and Janet Leigh.
1975
- Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miller have purchased and moved into the former Ricky Swailes’ home on Jefferson Street. Sale was made by Diana Wick, Geode Real Estate.
- The Oddfellows’ fish fry was on March 22. They sold 434 pounds of fish to over 400 people. It was termed a “great success.”
- Senior Interviews this week: Kim Dorsey and Joyce Christensen.
- Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shacklett were in Oskaloosa to attend the funeral of Mrs. Shacklett’s aunt Mrs. J.H. Wake.
- Mr. and Mrs. Howard Moon of Knoxville were Easter visitors in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Moon.

- Melody Raub Received an award from Western Illinois University.
- Ann Davis and Ahban Ayers have been accepted to IWC for fall 2000.

- Jan Ireland, New London HS principal since 1995, has taken a position in Tripoli as superintendent.
