1950
- Mrs. Dale Piper and Mrs. Yoma McKinnon returned to their homes from Burlington hospital where they had been patients.
- Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Morrow have moved into the Ralph Miller home. They moved from the Roy Wise apartment.
- Senior Interviews this week: Joan Crabill, Charlotte Gollliday, Dick Gholson, and Wanda Harris.
- Sara Jane Burkhart celebrated her 7th birthday treating her classmates to chocolate bunnies.
- William Pfeiffer won a bronze trophy similar to an “Oscar” for selling the most cars of his quota during the first two weeks of the April and May selling campaign. He has been a Hudson dealer since 1938.
- A $50 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person setting fire to cobs at the elevator — Farmers Co-Operative. Phone 110.
- NL Hall schedule: April 20 — VFW Auxiliary; April 22 — Betty Schweitzer: April 23 — Mrs. W.H. Lounsbury; April 24 — Ruth Corrick and Grace Conard; April 25 — Forrest Burkhart (day); and April 27 — Byron Toft (day).
- This week at the Alamo: “Down Dakota Way” starring Roy Rogers and Trigger plus “Scatterbrain” starring Judy Canova and “Challenge to Lassie” starring Edmund Gwen, Donald Crisp, and Lassie.
- Mr. and Mrs. Sumner Blanck and Gary, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Davey have returned from 3000 mile trip.
1975
- Mrs. Florence M. Lessenger, 82, passed away. She married the late Dr. E.J. Lessenger in 1911. The service was held at the Presbyterian Church.
- Marshal Willey reported finding several lids of “grass” in the local cemetery. It could actually be worth several dollars in today’s market.
- Senior Interviews this week: Tammy Blanck and Kent Hunter.
- Darlene Lounsbury, Lola Lundin, Linda Smith, and Rubie Reese attended the Rebekah — Oddfellow 4 state conclave at Cedar Rapids recently.
2000
- Obituaries this week: Frieda Dameron, Charles Buck, and Everett Epperson.
- Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Riepe and Dr. and Mrs. Dale Brinkmeyer have returned home after spending the winter in Mesa, AZ.
- A baby girl was born April 15 to Kevin and Marci Geary. She has been named Raegan Lee.
- NL girls track team traveled to Fort Madison on April 10. Lyndsay Worden took 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 29’ 10 ½”. The 4x400 relay team of Worden, Dora Ayers, Erin Lyles, and Jenny Dahl were 2nd with a time of 4:53.92.

- Senior Spotlights this week: Emily June Parks, Westly Donovan Steele, Mitchell Raymond Boles, Alexandra Nicole Goeddey, Andrew Michael McLerran, and Tanner Eugene Schneider.
- Kellan Porter, 4, son of Byrant and Lindsay Porter, showed off his building skills at Grow and Glow Preschool when he built a several car block train.
- The Care Center recognizes its volunteers: Merv Raiines, Bud Brown, Karen Brown, Freda McKinnon, Chuck and Connie Mears, Lia Reighard, Aimee Goldmeyer.
