1950
- Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Preuss announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Betty, and Robert Wettach.
- Emmett Barton, former NLHS coach, will be coaching at Mt. Pleasant.
- Howard Ritchey announces a big annual spring sale this issue, which opens this Friday morning.
- Waunita Smith, Ronnie Ritchey, Ruth Marshall, and Bob Harper spent Sunday in Ottumwa at Lake Wapello.
- Senior Interviews this week: Leatrice Patterson, Donna Dodds, Don Preuss, and Janet Preuss.
- The annual Jr-Sr prom gets underway on April 29. The Jr. mothers are led by Cleo Harper and Lorene Ritchey.
- This week at the Alamo: “Battleground” starring Van Johnson and “Chicago Deadline” starring Alan Ladd and Donna Reed.
- Carolyn Wiley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wiley, underwent a tonsillectomy at Burlington hospital.
- Robert Nees, 22, formerly of New London, has admitted that he robbed the New London creamery and some of the stolen checks were cashed in West Burlington and Burlington.
- Announcement: Dr. H. M. Readinger will be associated with Dr. R. J. Stolley in the practice of medicine starting July 1, 1950.
1975
- The Iowa Federation of Women’s clubs has awarded Alice Riley a $500 scholarship.
- Mr. and Mrs. Mike Westerbeck are both at home now after their recent auto accident and hospitalization in Mt. Pleasant.
- Tom Ritchey, Chamber of Commerce president, announced that the regular meeting of the month has been postponed until May 8.
- The New London Oddfellows have completed the Degree work for three members: Rodney Linkin, James Blow, and Roger Lee.
- Don C. Winter, 205 Cottonwood, is the first employee of the Des Moines County Public Safety Committee.
- Senior Interviews this week: Zobeida Cormomto Alvarez Gonzales is a foreign exchange student living with Dr. and Mrs. H. M. Readinger and Shane Dupree.
- The NLHS Tigerettes took 11 of 19 first places at the Notre Dame track meet. Winners included Barb Clark, discus; Marcia Lorber, high jump; and distance medley (Sue Rushill, Jan Stodgell, Jo Droz, and Diane Wilson.
2000
- Senior Interviews this week: Josh Myers, Lacey Jenkins, Miranda Swanson, Melissa Spearman, Rachel Chrisman, and Jennifer Wagner.
- This week’s Chamber of Commerce Hometown Pride Ward Winner is Tom and Cherie Watznauer for their home at 301 E. Main Street.
- The home on 506 N. Pine is for sale for $49,500.
- Kenneth Shelledy will celebrate his 80th birthday on May 6 with a card shower.
2015

- Senior Spotlights this week: Hunter Brooks Moeller, Dallas William Menke, and Austin James Menke.
- The Class of 1971 remembering those who are gone tree with a memorial tree. They include Diane Darbyshire Parks, Ed Brown, Bill Huddleston, Daryl Garvey, Hal Piper, Chris Sherer, Jim Blow, John Hollingsworth, and Kyle DeVore.
- Helping plant the tree were Carla Williamson Anderson, Wes Kendall, Greg Hoel, Dan Parks, Kent Lamm, Bonnie Woodal Voegler and Sheila Davey Lamm.
