1950
- Gordon Reese reports the sale of the Glen Mason Dairy and equipment to Willis Bozarth.
- While there has been no evidence of the “catch,” two local fishermen, E.N. Smith and Dave Calloway claim they caught the limit of trout on the opening day in Northeastern Iowa.
- The Junior-Senior prom’s theme was “April Showers.” It was held at the high school on April 29, 1950.
- Papers are being circulated over the county in behalf of Harvey Morrow for sheriff of Henry County on the democratic ticket. He has been the New London night marshal since March.
- Senior Interviews this week: Dale Orr, Frank McKasson, and Robert Elkin.
- New London students will not be considered tardy or absent f they go to Burlington to see President Truman when his train stops there. Burlington is expecting about 35,000 persons who wants to see the president.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Great Lover” starring Bob Hope and Rhonda Fleming and “Hit the Ice” starring Abbott and Costello.
- Mrs. Ralph DeSpain entertained in honor of Annette’s fourth birthday. Guests included Peggy and Barbie Shipley, Sheila Williamson, Shirley and Sara Burkhart, Linda Church, and Rita and Sonja DeSpain.
- P.E.O. meets at the home of Mrs. George Elliott on May 5.
1975
- Little League had a parent-player meeting on April 29. Election of officers was held with Bill Warth elected as president, Bud Brown — VP, Chris Selby — secretary, and Dick Lenz — treasurer.
- Jim Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson, has been selected for admittance into the physical therapy program at the University of Iowa. He is a 1971 graduate of NLHS.
- Citizens of Tomorrow include Keith Jr., Mylinda, and Clement Grinstead, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Dee Grinstead; Scott and Sara Aanes, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Aanes; and Lara and Christina Reid, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Reid.
- Senior Interviews this week: Vickie Maginnis and Jim Dotson.
- There was a card of thanks from Mason Strawhacker to all who sent cards, letters, called, and visited during and following his hospitalization.
2000

- Senior Interviews this week: Cara Hocking, Carrie Booth, Chad Wixom, Chris Beaty, Derrick Dickey, Evan Osborne, and Adam Richardson.
- Malissa Swailes was recognized by Congressman Leonard Boswell on her efforts on behalf of Voices Against Violence.
- The 7th grade girls’ track team traveled to Pekin for a meet. Nicole Hummel threw the discus 67’ 1” for 1st place; Lindsey Gulick took 1st in the high jump with a 4’ 1” jump; and Brittany Mears, Kelsey Kingery, Ashley Martin, and Ashley Huston took 1st in the distance medley with a time of 5:29.
2015
- Middle school student Claire Jones wins local peace poster contest sponsored by the New London Lions Club.
- The city council held a special election on May 5 that saw voters approved the extension of a local 1% sales tax and elected Tom Davis to the city council.
- This week’s Senior Spotlights: Terra Malott, Jorgi Ray Krieger, and Olivia Niomie Maestro.
- New London track seniors were honored at the April 28 meet. They included Dallas Menke, Gage Cumpton, Quincy Porter, and Avery Jacobs.
