•32 Seniors left on the Zephyr for a class trip to Chicago and the Wisconsin Dells. Class funds earned over the past four years funded the trip.
•This week at the Alamo: “Tycoon” starring John Wayne and Laraine Day and “Bambi.”
•Dr. Marcus Bach, professor at the University of Iowa, gave the graduation address on May 18. His topic: “Our World Has Lost Its Way.”
1973
•Baccalaureate, scheduled for May 20, has been canceled. The Board of Education took that step after receiving that request from the senior class.
•Graduation is set for May 24. Honorary Junior class ushers are Jane Hanks and Gary Grinstead.
•Senior Interviews this week: Mike Strawhacker, Ron Dameron, and Dick Darbyshire.
•Citizens of Tomorrow: Brandi Willey (7 mo.), Scott Aanes (2 ½) , Kristen Alderson (6 mo.), Jason Fulk (14 mo.), and Ritchie Kracht (20 mo.).
•Fern Davey has returned home after being a medical patient at Burlington Memorial Hospital.
1998
•Jason Gates and Tim Woodsmall have joined the Air Force. They will leave for Basic Training on July 29.
•Obituaries this week: John Hand, Ruth Moeller, and William Karle Sr.
•Crenna Brumwell received birthday wishes.
2013
•Don Lounsbury celebrated his 70th birthday on May 17.
•Obituaries this week: Paul Wehage, Mary Lou Myers, and Douglas Noble.
•NLHS Class of 2013 graduates on May 19.
•The boys golf team placed 2nd at sectionals. This qualified them for Districts. Tristan Kadel was medalist.
•New London girls golf is first at regionals. Baylee Lindell was first place medalist
