1950
- All teachers have signed their contracts for next year.
- A 10-year old boy stole $12 at Kennedy Dairy. It is believed he entered the business through a window. He was not named.
- Mrs. Jay Mosbey and Berdita were visitors of Mrs. Martha Van Benthusen in Russell. They visited a cemetery later in the day.
- The 7th grade elected class officers for the next school year. They were Pres. — Bob Mehler; VP — Glenda Turner; Sec. — Donna Jean Wasson, and Treas. — Tom Ritchey.
- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray and Jack returned home from visiting their daughter in Des Moines for a few days.
- There is a possibility that the first Methodist minister served in New London and is buried at Burge. Rev. Jesse Herbert and his wife moved here in 1853 where he died 20 years later. George Elliott, secretary of the Burge cemetery, said no records were kept before 1920, but there were burials before 1873.
1975
- Mr. Floyd Miller is in charge of the pool, and is assisted by qualified life guards.
- Marcia Thornburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Thornburg, received a scholarship from the New London JC’s. She plans to go into nursing.
- The engagement of Debbie Garmoe to Mr. Dana Lee Titus has been announced by Mrs. Evelyn Garmoe. A June 28 wedding is planned.
- The New London Fire Dept. is sponsoring a Cat & Carp dinner on June 14th.
2000
- Rose Prickett was recognized between services with cake and coffee at the NL Christian Church honoring her for her 20 years of service as the church pianist.
- Obituaries this week: John Thomas, Horace Bell, Lerla Smith, and John Willey.
- Clint Fedler was named All-American Scholarship.
- Nick Chiri handled the catching duties in a game against Danville.
2015
- Taps was played by Arnie Anderson and his daughter Samantha for the Veteran’s Memorial on May 25th.
- The 2015 girls’ golf team was Jaden Streeter, Emma Pry, Morgan Oliver, Jorgi Krieger, Frankie Johnson, and Paetyn Prottsman.
- Quincy Porter ran the 200 meter dash at the state tournament. He placed 12th with a time of 23.12.
- Carson McSorley placed 7th at the state tournament in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.62.
