1950
- This week’s Meet Your Neighbors — Mr. and Mrs. Russell Woline.
- Jimmy McCabe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCabe, returned home from Mercy Hospital where had been a patient for whooping cough.
- The Williamsons held a family dinner in the city park for Mrs. Eldon Williamson’s birthday. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Linkin and Rodney, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Williamson, Sheila and Rachie (?), and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cornwell and Charlyle, Louisville, Kentucky.
- Suzanne Wessel has won the Arion Foundation award.
- There will be a July Fourth & 5th celebration in the city park. It will feature food, a Ferris wheel, other rides, games, and concessions. The Jesters shall be performing each night. It is sponsored by the NL VFW.
- This week at the Alamo: “Key to the City” starring Clark Gable and Loretta Young and “Captain China” starring Jeffrey Lynn.
1975
- The first band concert is tonight in the park. It will feature the JH concert and jazz bands.
- Staff Sergeant Jerry Linder, 28, was killed in an auto accident in California. He was the son of Donald and Marjorie Woline Linder. He was born in 1946, graduated from New London High School, and had served in the air force for the past eight years.
- A card of thanks from Lois Smith to all who helped her after hurting her ankle.
- Linda Sledge, an English teacher at NLHS, has moved to Texas.
2000
- Clarissa and Kristen McPheron will perform an acrobat routine at the state fair.
- Lions install new officers: Pres.-Carol Berner; 1st VP-Jr. Williams; 3rd VP-Dave McGregor; Sec.-Lavelle Hibbs; and Tail Twister-Jerry Dingman.
- Obituaries this week: Dora Abrisz, Roger Patterson, and Jeffrey Lane Charbonneaux.

- Lions install new officers: Pres.-David Mixon; 2nd VP-Rhonda Mixon; Treas.-Lavelle Hibbs; Sec.-Jeri Lyles and Linda Rowe; Tail Twister-Barb Carmon; and Lion Tamer-Don Gaylord.
