1950
- Meet Your Neighbor - Mr. and Mrs. Dale Prottsman and sons Jerry and Jon.
- E. N. Smith caught an 18-inch trout at Strawberry Point.
- Robert Gill,21, nephew of Rollie Gill, died July 1, following an operation to remove a brain tumor.
- Bob Corrick received a broken vertebrae when he fell from a 22-foot ladder while shingling a barn in Packwood. He was rushed to the Burlington hospital. He attends Drake University and is on the football team.
- 800 persons were x-rayed by the mobile unit looking for signs of TB.
- American Legion auxiliary officers were announced. Pres.-Grace Conrad; VP-Miriam Foggy; Sec.-Mildred Collins; Treas.-Oneida Mosbey; Chaplin-Nellie Little; Historian-Leona Fitzpatrick; Sergeant-at-Arms-Irene Shutt; and Publicity-Dolly Dickinson.
- This week at the Alamo: “Ma and Pa Kettle Back on the Farm” starring Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride and “Bedtime for Bonzo” starring Ronald Reagan and Dianna Lynn.
- The Shipley twins entertained the 30 boys and girls from last year’s kindergarten class. Margaret Ann and Barbara Lee celebrated their 6th birthday at their home with their friends.
1975
- Mrs. Bob Shores entered Sacred Heart hospital in Ft. Madison where she is to be a surgical patient.
- Cynthia Diane Gaylord, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gaylord, and Jeffrey Allen Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wilson, announce the engagement and August 2nd wedding of their children.
- Julie McCabe was selected as the Star Forward of the first game while attending the Camp of the Champs Girls Basketball camp at WIU at Macomb.
- Steven Bell was named to the Dean’s List of Knox College.
2000
- The Chamber of Commerce Hometown Pride Award winner this week was Randall and Luella Moore’s home on 412 E. McKinley St.
- Obituaries this week: Lawrence Smith, Larry Van Stavern, and Alfred Wasson.
- The classes of 1940 and 1970 hold class reunions.
- David Shelledy spent the weekend at the parental home of Floyd and Mary Shelledy as he attended his 30th class reunion.

- Denise Bell is retiring from the Danville State Savings Bank after 19 years of service. Join her at an open house on July 31.
