1950
- The benefit card party held on Thursday evening at the school gymnasium cleared a total of $55 ($738 today). Mrs. Dova Thompkins won the door prize which was a card table. Almost 100 people were in attendance.
- A surprise dinner was held in honor of Mrs. Henry Taeger at the New London hall.
- A wiener roast will be held Tuesday evening at the Presbyterian fire place by the Fellowship Bible class Mrs. Frank Tyner is the teacher.
- The first sewing machines arrived from the Singer factory at Minneapolis, Minn. for the Northwest Glove factory here. There were 10 new machines in the shipment.
- Happy birthday to Ruth Marshall on Sept. 22.
- In the school news: Darlene Baker celebrated her 6th birthday last week.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Reformer and the Red Head” starring June Allyson and Dick Powell and “The Kid from Texas” starring Audie Murphy.
1975
- The Iowa Basketball Coaches Annual Fall clinic will be held in Oct. Jack Wilson will attend.
- Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ritchey and girls spent the weekend with Mrs. Ritchey’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Morningstar, in Cedar Rapids.
- Mrs. Vera Leedham, who has been at St. Francis hospital for four years, remains about the same . She enjoys having visitors.
- Mrs. Maxine DeSpain has a meditation in the Upper Room devotional.
2000
- Jerry and Sylvia Fulk of 2686 Wilkinson Dr. are this week’s winners of the Chamber of Commerce Hometown Pride award.
- Obituaries this week: Rev. Donald Wooge, LuAnn Clark, David Gehringer, and Paul DeJaynes.
- Senior Spotlights this week: Corbin Wayne Brumwell and Deanna Marie Boecker.
- VB Coach Maureen Heath gets 300th win.
- The Tigers win SEISC title…again!
2015
- The four remaining veterans from the 2000 Southeast Iowa WWII Honor Tour got together for a picture. They are Bill McCabe, Mervin Raines, Arnold DeJaynes, and Keith Long.
- The class of 1954 had their class reunion.
- Tiger football beats Danville, 24-18.
- Mason Porter from New London and Gage Jarrett from Danville played football with their great-grandmother in attendance.
