1950
· The Mary Elizabeth Missionary Society will meet at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Elliott in Oct. with Mrs. Maxine DeSpain as assisting hostess. Mrs. Dova Tompkins will be leader.
· Thirty seconds after the fire alarm sounded, the first pupils in the grade school were outside and in 60 seconds all students in both the grade school and high school were outside the building. The New London fire department arrived at the school in 30 seconds as the first grade pupils came out. It was an excellent practice run.
· Grade school news to the Informer is reported on by Ruth Ann Kannegieser and Sherry Piper.
· Ronald Lenz and Bruce Elder are new pupils who entered the 4th grade on Monday.
· Howard Ritchey was attending the Iowa Retail Hardware Ass’n at Burlington when he found out that Ritchey Hardware had won first place in the state with the poster/sales bill of their business.
· Realtor Gordon Reese has a modern seven room house for $6,500.00.
· This week at the Alamo: “The Daughter of Rosie O’Grady” starring June Haver and Gordon MacRae and “Chain Lighting” starring Humphrey Bogart and Eleanor Parker.
1975
· Carol Linkin and Kathy Reid are the owners and operators of the new flower store in town, the Bouquet Boutique.
· Adelle Edwards spent the week of Sept. 28 in Boston as a delegate to the P. E. O. biennial national convention representing Iowa.
· Sept. 26th was the week of New London’s Tiger Homecoming. Shiree Davey was crowned queen. Her attendants were Tami Toft, Cindy Ball, Sue Ruschill, and Pat Whitson. Shiree was crowned by last year’s queen Shari Mallams.
· Later at the dance, Mark Pennebaker was crowned king by Kerry Miller. His attendants were Tom Hanson, Kevin Hopson, Bob McPheron, and Mitch Miller.
· Ford Division of the Ford Motor Company has recently announced that Mervin Raines has attained membership in the Ford Society of Professional Sales Counselors for 1975.
· Dr. and Mrs. H. M. Readinger spent Monday and Tuesday in Chicago where Dr. Readinger attended the national meeting of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
2000
· Story hour with Grandma Dorothy at the library has started.
· The 2000 Homecoming candidates are Corina Schropp, Deana Boecker, Lyndsay Worden, Brittony Williamson, Samantha Wagner, Nate Burden, Dee Jay Brobston, Matt Walker, Bryce Mueller, and Corbin Brumwell.
· Obituaries this week: Clarence Totemeier, Leona Kuntz, and Freddie L. Noble.
· Jamie Strawhacker is on IWC volleyball team.
2015
· The 2015 Homecoming Court: Tyler Mettler, Austin McBeth, Zach Oliver, Colton Francis Jayden Flowers, Emma Pry, Morgan Christner, Frankie Johnson, Brandi Allen, and Hannah White.
· The football field fix has been put on hold.
· Obituaries this week: Donna J. Rice Barr, Dale William Francy, and Joe Tony Harris.
· Showing great school spirit by dressing on ‘Merica Monday were elementary students Bethany Miller, Keagyn Coleman, and Keilan Bricker.
