1950
· Clicking machines (cutters) arrived for the Northwest Glove Co. factory. W.O. Wainwright, owner, plans to push installation and is anxious to get production going.
· Mrs. Dave Marshall assisted by Mrs. Clarence Smith, will entertain the John See chapter of the D.A.R. on Tuesday.
· Fred Morrow, 66, died at his home from a heart attack. Mrs. Morrow found him deceased
· The Women’s club met at the home of Mrs. Harvey Morrow with Alma Noble as assistant hostess.
· Sergeant Keith Cook is now stationed in South Korea.
· Wilton Junction with a 0-4 football team this year, will be the foe this Friday evening for the New London Tigers.
· There were 12 5th graders who had a 100 in spelling last week. They were Billy Denny, Noma Edgington, Bob Foggy, Shirley Kuhlenbeck, Judy Locke, Denny McAvoy, Phyllis Main, Wanda Richenberger, Roger Sharp, Wendell Williams, Butch Williams, and Gary Woline.
· This week at the Alamo: “A Ticket to Tomahawk” starring Dan Dailey and Anne Baxter and “Hasty Heart” starring Ronald Reagan and Patricia Neal.
· Mike Brackey, buyer for Oscar Mayer, will open a new yard and office. The new yard and office will be open on Mondays.
1975
· For the 7th consecutive year, the New London Tiger Marching Band has returned from the state marching band contest with a Division I (Superior) rating. Of the 100 members, 86 are players, 10 are flag-bearers, three are twirlers, and one drum majorette. This year it is Maria Elliott.
· Airman Gary A. Grinstead has completed basic training for the air force at Lackland AFB, Texas. He is the son of Mrs. Helen Grinstead.
· Miss Katherine Marie Reid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Reid, has graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Floriculture.
· Mrs. Charles Smith and two sons of Marshalltown spent the weekend at the parental Ralph DeSpain home.
· Mrs. Edith Miller, Mrs. Gladys Miller, Mrs. Fern Davey, and Mrs. Bessie Vandenmark have returned from a trip to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. They visited Curtis Miller.
· Daylight savings time will end Sunday morning on Oct. 26.
2000
· The Homecoming Queen and King this year are Sam Wagner and Corbin Brumwell.
· Obituaries this week: Harley Walker and Billy Kellogg.
· Walmart donated $1,500 for new playground equipment.
· Tiger VB takes second at their tournament. Corina Schropp led the team with 65 kills.
2015
· Retired MBA player Adrian Branch visited New London to encourage the students to make positive choices. Tate Jones and Cameron Raines got their picture with him.
· The Tigers won the Homecoming game against Van Buren 50-6.
· Colton Francis and Morgan Christner were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
· Austin McBeth and Keontae Luckett exchange a hand slap after scoring a touchdown.
· The VB team defeated West Burlington 3-1 during Homecoming week.
