· Mrs. Earl Barry entertained at the New London hall in honor of her son Butch’s 7th birthday. Cupcakes and ice cream were served.
· Mr. and Mrs. Lester Matheny and Dave returned from North Platte where they had business.

· Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dameron and Carolyn spent Sunday with Mrs. Nora Nelson and daughters, Fairfield.
· Homecoming will be Friday night when the Tigers will take on their most formidable foe, Wilton Junction. The final score of the game saw the Tigers victorious, 25-6.
· Geode Dam is nearing completion.
· Juniors on the honor roll for the first six weeks: Jacque Harper, Ruth Marshall, Jim Breuer, Shirley Brandmeyer, Andy Rogers, Dean Jackman, and Leota Grinstead.
· This week at the Alamo: “The Reformer and the Redhead” starring June Allyson and Dick Powell and “The Kid from Texas” starring Audie Murphy and Gale Storm.
1975
· Mrs. Myra Williamson was surprised Sunday evening when her children and grandchildren brought supper to her home to celebrate her birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Linkin, Brigette, Travis, and Trent, Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Williamson and Staci Jo, Mr. and Mrs. Gale Barry, Angie, Stevie, and Jason, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Williamson and Carla, Leuwana Barry, Arietta Barry, Wilma Linkin, Donnie Anderson, and John Fehy.
· Mrs. Bert Harper organized a surprise coffee and housewarming for Mrs. Charles Hines, Sr. Mrs. Hines has recently moved into the former McClure house on the corner of Walnut and Washington.
· Lewis Worden is one of 22 IWC Pep band members. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Estes Worden.
· Mr. and Mrs. C. David Bell have bought the Gertrude Sharp home on Newland St. and will get possession on Nov. 1.
2000
· Volleyball Coach Maureen Heath got her 300th VB win. She has been coaching for 17 years. She has been head coach at Notre Dame, Burlington HS, and is now the Tiger head coach. Congrats Coach Heath!
· The Tigers won the SEI Super Conference title … again.
· In the New London School News, the topics being discussed were underage drinking and a movie review of “The Beach.”
· Sharon Lorber holds the distinction of being the only woman in Coe College history to lead the nation in a statistical category. She has lettered four years in softball. She is the daughter of Charles and Irma Lorber.
· Obituaries this week: Jeannette Woline, Clarence Kuhlenbeck, and Henry Lee Putney.
· Senior Spotlight this week: Samantha Jo Wagner.
2015
· Getting into a little mischief during Homecoming week were Mollie Magel, Josten Boyer, Kenadi Schulte, Hannah White, and Morgan Oliver … girls just wanna have fun!
· The following are running for city council and mayor. They are Ron Sadler, and Tracy Trejo running for mayor, and Kirk Miller, Brad Helmerson, Judy Wiegard, and Tom Davis running for a council seat.
· New London School District’s new vice president, Travis Benz, was sworn in on Oct. 19.
· On Oct. 17, four New London girls played in the Burlington youth soccer league. They were Chloe Collis, Paris Wilka, Kennedy Bachtell, and Emerson Lehman
