· NL Hall schedule: 11/18 — Day — Mrs. McCabe and Harold Walker; 11/19 — Day — Mrs. J.E. McNeil; 11/0 — Cub Scouts; 11/21 — 4-H Club; 11/24 — Van Hemert; 11/25 — Dale Nau; 11/27 — Women’s Club; 11/28 — Wayne Colby; and 11/29 — Wallace Riepe.
· Mr. and Mrs. Dick Harper received word from their son, Carl, who is stationed in Korea, that he has recently been promoted to corporal.
· Chapter EV, P.E.O. will meet at the home of Mrs. Paul McDade on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Program-Mrs. Mary Ireton.
· The NL Tigers are in 4th place in the final standings of the Eastern Iowa Hawkeye football conference with a 4-4 record.
· Mrs. Elmer Watson and baby Janet Sue returned home from Mercy Hospital Tuesday afternoon.
· Roy Henessee bought the new home in the east part of town from Howard Miller. The house will be completed by Dec. 1.
· The Junior class play will be presented at NLHS tonight. It is “Cheaper by the Dozen.” It stars Ruth Marshall, Andy Rogers, Shirley Pollock, Larry Reid, Jacque Sue Harper, and Rose Dickey.
· The Tri-Cities’ Clown Band will perform at the high school gym on Nov. 18. Admission is 50c.
· This week at the Alamo: “My Friend Irma Goes West” starring Dean Martin and Jerry Louis and “The Outriders” starring Joel McCrea and Arlene Dahl. There is a special feature on Thanksgiving. “Father of the Bride” starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor.
1975
· The First United Methodist Church is starting a study class called “the Holy Spirit and the Christian Experience” on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
· Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Syoc have moved to their farm home north of town.
· Mary Cook sent out a thank-you in the paper for all the cards she received during her time in the hospital.
2000
· Timothy Kelly graduated from IWC in August with a BA in elementary ed.
· The 10th annual Holiday Stroll will be Dec. 2. The Holiday Stroll committee members are Koral Fuson, Carol Linkin, Joyce Blow, Rhonda Mixon, Diana Hardy, Lee Pennebaker, Jan Crow, Elaine Raines, and Dayle Warth.
· Obituaries this week: William Willis, Effie Bergdahl, and Betty Herrick.
· In the New London School News, there is a biography of longtime Spanish teacher Mrs. Crawford.
2015
· SFC Jesse Howard was the Veterans Day speaker at the school’s annual Veterans Day assembly.
· Obituary this week: Gary L. Wichart.
· The Woodall women are pictured with five generations.
· Morgan Christner signs with Illinois State to play softball.
