1950
· Gwenivere Hanks, freshman at Parsons college, Fairfield, has been chosen a member of the contralto section of the chapel choir composed of all students. She is the daughter of Willis Hanks.
· The school paper, the Informer, reported that the 6th grade has started practicing a Christmas Nativity play.
· Mrs. James Garland will go to Bloomfield Monday, where she will go through the Gilfelian clinic.
· Robert Shipley, manager of the Northwest Glove factory here, reports that there were 26 employed at the factory as of Dec. 8.
· N.J. Westerbeck sold his home on North Walnut street to Frank Wise who will get possession on June 1.
· Mrs. Helen Funk will be a hostess to the Linger Longer Club on Dec. 27.
· This week at the Alamo: “Broken Arrow” starring James Stewart and Debra Paget and “In the Foreign Legion” starring Abbott and Costello.
1975
· Three from New London attended the Illiamo meeting held at the V.F.W. in Hamilton, Ill. Those attending were Gerhard Kannegieser, Duane Griggs, and Ed Smith.
· On Nov. 18, the varsity boys basketball team participated in the Burlington Notre Dame Jamboree. They lost 48-29. Gene Wilkerson was leading scorer for NL with eight points.
· Elementary teachers, Bob Wehrle and Barb Heaton, enjoyed the Thanksgiving play the students put on.
2000
· The following students were listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” Included were Andrea Arnold, Nate Burden, Rachel Chrisman, Ann Davis, Gretchen Henderson, Craig Meade, Brandy Miller, Ben Scmitt, Jacob Schmitt, Rebecca Schweitzer, and Jesse Wellington.
· The Movie Haus is decorated for Christmas. Great job Joyce Staley.
· Obituaries this week: Don Comstck and Joseph Leach.
2015
· The V.F.W. Patriot’s Pen winners are Nicholas Johnson, Jordan Sharp, and Emerson Lehman.
· Obituaries this week: Dan Blair and Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Hull.
· Jack Anderson and Tierany Jewett appeared in the school production of “Anne of Green Gables.”
· Cub Scout Pack 71 supports soldiers through S.O.F.T.
