1950
· The Tigers journeyed to Wapello and defeated the Indians 37 to 31. Bob Harper was leading scorer with 22 points. They are currently undefeated.
· Miss Adell Van Nice and Earl J. Edwards were wed in an impressive ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 10, 1950.
· Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Davey have received word that Leon Davey, their son, is stationed at San Diego, California.
· Mrs. Betty Thomas will host the Social Time clubs on Dec. 15 with a Christmas dinner at 12:30 p.m. A gift exchange will be held.
· The HS operetta will open Tuesday night. Students with parts include Marilyn Wright, Bob Wright, Sherry Piper, Sharon Layman, Monica Simmons, and Ronnie Ritchey.
· At the request of the federal government, a group of Henry County citizens will form a defense council for the county. New London’s representative is E.N. Smith.
· Herman Prehm, living south of New London bought Merlin Westerbeck’s new, modern home. He takes possession Feb. 1.
· Suzanne Wessel will arrive home by plane from Lindenwood College at St. Charles, Missouri.
· This week at the Alamo: “Montana” starring Errol Flynn and Alexis Smith and “The Big Hangover” starring Van Johnson and Elizabeth Taylor.
1975
· Betty McCleary of Cornell College spent Thanksgiving vacation at the home of her mother Mrs. Verna Helphrey.
· Renee Rayner, a student at the University of Iowa, spent Thanksgiving vacation at the parental Kenneth Rayner home.
· Mr. and Mrs. Larry Miller and children entertained the following relatives on Thanksgiving Day: Mrs. Floyd Miller, Tim and Danny Miller, Terry Miller, Carol Rokey, and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Burkhart.
· Mr. and Mrs. Claude Noel entertained Chuck and Sara Noel and family, Tom and Linda Noel and family, and Harry Noel on Thanksgiving.
· Mr. and Mrs. Max Strawhacker, Ainsworth, Shiree Davey, and Sue LaRette. were Thanksgiving dinner guests at the Mason Strawhacker home.
2000
· The New London Police Dept. was awarded a traffic safety grant of $1,000 by the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers.

· Elsie Hobbs, Marcella Doggett, and Elsie Williams helped with a Cake-Walk during the Holiday Stroll,

· Bowen Glaha took 2nd place at the Wapello wrestling tournament.
· At the ice skating rink in Mt. Pleasant were Cole Mills, Shelley Detrick, and Chevy Mills.
