1950
· Mr. and Mrs. Earl Edwards announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Janet, to Terry D. Kilbourn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Kilbourn.
· The Methodist Sunday School to present program on Christmas Eve at 7:30 p.m. Some of the participants included Linda Harper, Tommy and Johnny McKinnon, Shirley Burkhart, Blaine McNeil, Annette DeSpain, Mary Jane Helmerson, Peggy and Barbie Shipley, Jimmy Ritchey, and Sara Jane Burkhart.
· Bobbie and Ronnie Burkhart and Billy Warth entertained 47 guests at a birthday party at the New London Hall on Dec. 19.
· Leon McNeil called a class meeting to decide how to decorate their classroom for Christmas. A decorating committee was appointed: Sherry Piper, Ruth Ann Kannegiesser, Dick Davison, and Larry Pennebaker. They are all freshmen.
· As a holiday treat to the kids, there will be a free show on Sat. afternoon, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Alamo All students from New London and surrounding communities are invited.
· Donald J. Bell with co-host Dr. Perry Haist marked the first of the holiday festivities for 1950. “Don and our new dentist, Perry Haist, proved to be grand and generous hosts, mixing with their guests and giving special attention to their welfare.” From Judge Walter.
· This week at the Alamo: “Holiday Inn” starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire and “Bells of Coronado” starring Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Trigger.
1975
· Mr. and Mrs. Darold Dotson will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21 with an open house. They have three children — Jeannine Coberley (Randall), Janelle Krier (Norman), and James.
· Mr. and Mrs. Linder Davey entertained at an early Christmas celebration at their home on Sunday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kent Lamm and Randy, Shiree and Steve Davey, and Mike Strawhacker.
· Joe Colton sent a thank-you for all the visits and kindness shown to him during his recent hospital stay.
· Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Williamson entertained Sunday at a family pre-Christmas dinner. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sonka, Brian and Mark, Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Williamson and Staci, Carla Williamson, Donnie Anderson, and Mrs. Myra Williamson.
2000
· P.E.O. Chapter EV will hold a regular meeting at the Presbyterian Church. The program will be Christmas Remembrances.
· Obituaries this week: Linda Cox and Lloyd Sutcliffe.
