1951
The Camera Club met at the home of George Helt for their first meeting of the year.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Davey announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Elenore Mae to Earl Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Miller, all of New London.
The freshmen Home Ec. class hosted a Christmas tea for their mothers. The program included the “Welcome “ by Norma Prehm; piano solo by Virginia Williams; talk by Mrs. Harms; poem by Kay Hamilton; and quartet of Ruth Ann Kannegiesser, Sherry Piper, Janice Elder; and Marilyn Wright.
Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Burkhart, Sara Jane and Shirley, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bonar and family in Washington.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Syoc are the parents of a son, Larry Lynn. He weighed 7lbs. 14 oz. and has an older sister, Karla Kristine, 3.
Mr. and Mrs. James Collins are the parents of a son, David Earl. He weighed 9lbs.1oz. He has an older brother, Eddie, 3.
The 8th grade class was very excited by their victory over Danville 23-21.
High school juniors will have another paper drive on Jan. 13.
Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. the Women’s Club will met at the New London hall. They will have an auction on a silver tea service.
Rebecca Clark, who has been cared for at the home of Mrs. Dale Williams for the past three months, fell breaking her right shoulder. She is in Burlington hospital.
1976
Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Williamson announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Carla Jean to Donald E. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Anderson on April 24.
Joe Colton has returned to his home after spending six weeks at the New London Health Care Center.
Senior Spotlights this week are Jolene Davey, Cleo Carter, and Ferlin Edgington.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harper spent the weekend with their daughter Mrs. Jack Chadwick and family in Newton.
Patricia Anne Whitson has been chosen to be the Presidential Freshman Scholar for 1976-1977 at Drake University.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Ruschill attended the camper show in Des Moines.
Seniors on the honor roll: Tina Baldwin, Joyce Crabill, Jolene Davey, Shiree Davey, Bob McPheron, Steve Prottsman, Tami Toft, Cindy Voyles, Pat Whitson, and Diane Wilson.
2001
Chester and Ila Coleman will celebrate their 30-year wedding anniversary.
Obituaries this week: Kenneth Upton, James Ketchum, Maude Boecker, and Howard King.
Earl and Marilyn Davis will have an open house to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
On Jan. 8, the local Masonic Lodge will hold their installation of 2001 officers following the regular meeting. James Collins will be installed as worshipful master.
Jan Ireland of Tripoli spent a few days with Jerry and Freda McKinnon and other friends.
2016
Chapter EV P.E.O. will meet. Sandy Griffin will give the program and Wanda McPheron and Nella Elliott will act as hostesses.
Obituary this week: Esther McStotts.
Kristen McPheron and Marcus Bratsch were married Sept. 12, 2015.
The New London 5th grade basketball team finished 3rd at the Holy Trinity tournament.
