•The school budget exceeds $100,000 for the first time in school history.
•Bus drivers offered contracts for next year: William Willis, Edgar Dillavou, Fred Linkin, Harold Tucker, Les Simmons, and Walter Preuss.
•Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Parsons announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Velma Lucille, to Linder Davey, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Davey on June 27.
•This week at the Alamo: “They Won’t Believe Me!” starring Robert Young and Susan Hayward and “Something in the Wind” starring Deanna Durbin and Donald O’Connor.
1973
•The New London J.C.’s presented a $200 scholarship to Lester Coleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Coleman.
•Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Kannegiesser hosted the annual Kannegiesser Open. This is for Case Company employees and was played at the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club on June 2.
•Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wick have purchased the former Forrest Burkhart home on Sunset Drive.
1998
•Opal Patterson will celebrate her 96th birthday with a family picnic on June 20.
•Jeremy Fulk, son of Jerry and the late Carol Fulk, is home on leave after finishing basic training with the Marines in San Diego.
•Obituaries this week: Mae Louck, Troy Jackson, and Aderene Richard.
•Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Totemeier will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 30.

•The NLHS class of 1939 celebrates 74 years. Six were in attendance: Etta Landrum Owen, Madelyn Eckey Shumaker, Marjorie Lemon Hudgens, Bud Madden, Glen Dockendorff, and Bob Madsen.
•Obituaries this week: Bernadine E. Hite and Tina Ward.
•Ben Fry graduates from Central College.
•Hometown Pride awards go to the Ruth Piper home and the Kenny Simmons home.
