•Elliott Chapel was the setting for the marriage of Miss Velma Parsons to Linder Davey on June 27.
•Most New London stores will close at noon on Monday, July 5.
•Five plead guilty to shooting fireworks: Billy Mathers, Duane Westerbeck, Lyal Colton, Bill Burns, and Wayne Ford. They were each charged $5 plus $2 court costs.
•Phil Westerbeck bought a ham at Young’s meat market and was given 13 tickets he was told to sign. Unbeknownst to him, the tickets were votes for one of the young ladies running for Victory Queen. By signing his name, Westerbeck gave 13 votes to himself. The Journal thinks he might be a contender.
•This week at the Alamo: “The Bishop’s Wife” starring Cary Grant and Loretta Young and “The Other Love” starring Barbara Stanwyck and David Niven.
1973
•Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allred will take over the operation of the Tastee beginning July 1.
•Mrs. Versa Hansen announces the forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Donna Sue, to James Ernest McCabe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCabe.
•Marilyn Eichler, daughter of Mrs. Maxine Eichler, is a patient at Burlington Memorial Hospital.
•The L. T. Club recently elected officers: Pres.-Betty Schweitzer; VP-Virginia Riepe; and Sec/Treas-Murine Miller.

•The SEI Blood Center thanks its donors: new donor-Jim Osborne; Dianna Hardy-One Gallon; Chris Selby-Two Gallon; Marlene Reid-Three Gallon; and Janni Ftzpatrick-Six Gallon.
