•Virginia Hanson was chosen Victory Queen by the community.
•This week at the Alamo: “Bells of San Angelo” starring Roy Rogers and Trigger and “Sleep, My Love” starring Claudette Colbert and Robert Cummings . Added bonus on Friday and Saturday is the Joe Louis vs. Jersey Joe Walcott fight.
•E. C. Dunlavy, a veteran service station operator, will retire after 20 years of operating the Mobil Oil Station.
1973
•Mrs. Esther Sharp and Doris went visiting in Winfield to catch-up with Mrs. Roger Sharp and family.
•Citizens of Tomorrow pictures included Joe and Kristi Lounsbury, Matthew and Ryan Linder, and Randall and Cynthia Leu.
•The Brownie Troop did an excellent job with Flag Day ceremonies.
1998
•The Lions Club installed new officers: Pres.-Milton Niggemeyer; 1st VP-Charlotte McGregor; 2nd VP-Carol Berner; Sec.-Vernon Mitchell; Treas.-LaVelle Hibbs; Lion Tamer-Ben Berner; and Tail Twister-Don Gaylord.
•Obituaries this week: Harry Boecker and Caryl Ritchey.
•Steve Jewell received his certified emergency nurse certification. He now lives in Quincy with his family.
2013
•The Hometown Pride Award this week goes to Roberta Ball’s home on West Main Street.
•The top seller for Butterbraids and Cookie Dough for the New London Little Lesgue is Savannah Oge, 5. She won a Nintendo DS and accessories.
•NL’s Jacob Bench is pictured watching the pitch for an opportunity to steal third base against W-MU.
•Brett and Nick Powell are playing T-Ball for the Tigers. Teammates are Kye Reighard, Marlianna Woodsmall, Shaylee Brotherson, Hailey Dudley, Cooper Coleman, and Taryne Dasher.
