1948
•Ruth Ann Ernest, Donald Warth, G. A. Elliott, Scott Elliott, Paul Wehage, and Andy Rogers left Wednesday morning to attend the Presbyterian Senior Conference at Central College in Pella.
•Mr. and Mrs. Ray Williams announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Mary, to Floyd Shelledy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Shelledy.
•At her home, Mrs. Dora Pierson fell the full length of her front steps breaking both arms as well as cuts and bruises. She was going to see the Claire Bishop baby. She was rushed to the hospital where she is resting comfortably.
•Large crowd sees afternoon parade and evening fireworks for 4th of July hoopla.
•This week at the Alamo: “John Loves Mary” starring Ronald Reagan and Patricia Neal and “The Bribe” starring Robert Taylor and Ava Gardner.
1973
•Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wick have moved into the home they recently purchased from Forrest Burkhart in Westgate.
•Sixty took part in the New London Golf Tournament at Sheaffer Memorial golf course. Ben Flam was the winner with an 81. Tied for 2nd were Carl Kinney and Steve Readinger with an 84.
•Martha Jane McNeeley, daughter of the Gilbert McNeeleys, became the bride of Howard Meeker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Meeker.
1998
•Class of 1988 had their 10-year class reunion. Attending were Scott Aanes, Chris Ahmann, Eric and Kim (Chapman) Strothman, Chad and Temple (McCall) Christner, Dave and Candi Francis, Brad and Debbie (Miller) Helmerson, Troy and Marti (Lamm) Magel, Blair Lehman, Shelley Lee, Mike Long, Darrin Loyd and Jamie McBeth.
•Morgan Christner wished her grandparents, June and Frank Christner, happy 50th birthdays in a Journal picture ad.
•Twenty gitls attended New London Volleyball camp.
2013
•New London Softball earns state berth. Team pictured: Ashley Davey, Kristen Allen, Sami Koontz, Sarah Holtkamp, Caitlin Chiri, Jorgi Krieger, Emily Parks, Victoria Noel, Kenadi Shulte, Dani Holt, Morgan Christner, Emma Pry, Josten Boyer, and Jordan Steele. They are coached by Duane Blint and Paula Bliven.
•The Hometown Pride Award this week goes to the home of Paul and Wanda McPheron on Sunset Drive.
•There will be a fundraiser on August 2, for Sarah Staebell who is battling colon cancer. She is a 1992 NLHS graduate and the fundraiser will be an alumni volleyball game.
•THE 2013 SEISC ALL-CONFERENCE Softball Team: First Team- Catcher/Emily Parks; Pitcher/Morgan Christner; Infield/Jorgi Krieger; Utility/Caitlin Chiri; Outfield/Sami Koontz. Second Team- Infield/Emma Pry; Outfield/Victoria Noel. Honorable Mention-Sarah Holtkamp and Ashley Davey.
